Report: Jags 'close' to acquiring Tim Tebow

Quote:
NFL Network's Mike Lombardi is "hearing" that the Jaguars are close to acquiring Tim Tebow from the Broncos.

Lombardi previously wrote on his Twitter account that the Jags had acquired Tebow, but he was citing a fake Tebow Twitter page. "But this is not fake," Lombardi now claims. "I am hearing the Jags are close to making this happen." If so, the Jaguars will have swooped in to acquire Tebow from the Jets' clutches. The Jets thought their midday trade of Tebow was official, before reading the details of his contract and reneging on the initial deal.

In like a 48 hour period Peyton Manning joins the Denver Broncos, Tebow gets run out of town to play in New York of all places and the entire Saints organization gets thrown into chaos with draconian penalties. You just can't make all this drama up. I'm starting to think Goodell is secretly orchestrating all the crazy crap going on this offseason just to suck the life out of every other sport.

It's crazy how much punishment hit the Saints and you barely hear about it because of Tebowmania.

That Saints are going to have a BAD year. They already po'ed Brees by just tagging him and not giving him the contract he deserves. Payton is gone all year, and one of his assistants almost.

And the next Super Bowl is in New Orleans. Funny how things work out, huh?

I was actually thinking 2012 might be the season a team finally plays a home game at the Super Bowl since it's in New Orleans. But with freaking turn of events caused by the fallout over Bountygate with coaches and the GM getting incredibly long suspensions I now cannot see it happening. They should still be very good, unless Saints players also get lengthy suspensions, but overcoming this mess and contending for a championship seems unlikely.

With all this NFL news, you wouldn't even know the NCAA tournament resumes tomorrow.

Really, this is still just not sinking in for me. I mean who here could have possibly imagined Peyton Manning actually playing for the Denver Broncos? Seriously man, I mean like saying "WOW!" or "HOLY COW!" just does not quite cover it.

Man I wish Tebow went to the Jags instead. He has a better chance of starting over there. He'll show people if he really belongs or not.

Oh well, at least there is the potential for even more drama in the Jets locker room next season.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens with the players involved. I could see the league giving several suspensions as well.

The loss of draft picks is going to hurt a lot because they also don't have a first round pick in 2012 (traded to New England for 2011 pick to acquire Mark Ingram) and a team like the Saints with several high paid players need draft picks with cheaper salaries to solidify the roster.
Making up for Spygate I suppose . It was this harsh because of their prior warning to cease and desist. They should have been hit hard, not sure this hard but definitely hard especially with Goodell's stance on player safety. If he wasn't heavy handed, he could have seemed hypocritical.
