Buccaneers hired Lovie Smith as head coach.
Credit Adam Schefter for first tabbing Smith as the heavy favorite in Tampa, and Jay Glazer for breaking news of the actual hire. Previous reports have indicated Smith will be accompanied by Jeff Tedford to coordinate the Bucs' offense, and Leslie Frazier to run the defense. Turning 56 in May, Smith spent 2013 out of football after being fired by the Bears, where he was head coach for nine years and earned an 81-63 record with one Super Bowl appearance. Smith is set up for success with the Bucs, who have far more talent than their 4-12 2013 record suggests. The Bucs are hiring Smith before a general manager, which suggests Lovie will have plenty of personnel power. We'd view this as a fairly high-risk, boom-or-bust hire despite Smith's successful track record.

It might be that I'm a Lions fan and Lovie was the Bears coach but whew. Lucked out. Have fun with him Tampa.

And now you name your terms, please.
$50 that Aaron Rodgers will be discount daaaaable checking from his couch during the NFC Championship

To make the terms a little better:

If Green Bay wins the Wild Card game and loses the divisional game then you would only owe me $25

Fair?

Niners are certainly the better team, but the best team doesn't always win.

I hope you are right because I'd rather see a 49ers/Panthers rematch (assuming the Saints lose to the Eagles).

yes of course eagles better win, i for one can't stand the saints
i also am not a packers fan, so i hope 49ers win.

i suppose colts over chiefs and then since i am from san diego, even though it would be a major upset, i want to see the chargers take it

Same here I hate the saints and the bountygate and all the calls that went their way setting up their super bowl

I'd be ok with any of the other 11 teams winning it all

if the bengals do take it, i would want to see them go far just cause it's a new team,
like in the afc it seems like it's always brady and at least one manning in the playoffs

It's pretty clear both the Seahawks and Broncos are better, but outside of those two teams you guys could have a chance. But having to go on the road every game isn't ideal for the Chiefs. They needed a bye week.
AFC West has 3 teams going into the playoffs. That's how tough it is. At the beginning of the season I was concerned about Bowe. It's not that he's getting outplayed by Charles(He's top 2 RB) but was getting double teamed every game till Avery stepped up. After the bye is when Alex Smith started throwing down field. We'll need Fasano and Mcgrath to step up and not get hurt. Defense wasn't exposed but hurt. Hali and Houston were hurt.Luckily Ried let our starters rest the final game and part of week 16.I'm happy with where were at as we've been in a downward spiral for quite a few years. But I expect the Chiefs to win Saturday.

Looks like the Bears believe Cutler is their franchise QB:

Pretty much my reaction to Romo's massive contract, although his injury did cost us a chance at getting smoked by the Saints.

As of this morning the Packers and Colts both have 5,500 unsold tickets for this weekend's playoff games. As of yesterday afternoon the Bengals had 8,000 unsold tickets. Teams have to sell out by this afternoon to avoid a blackout, although they can request an extension. Usually (but not always) when an extension is granted the team tells the league they will buy up any unsold tickets to avoid a blackout. For regular season games owners can pay 34% of face value for the tickets, but for playoff games they must pay 100% of face value.

Yeah, I read about this a few days ago. I'm especially shocked that the Packers are on this list. Despite not having a banner year during the regular season, one would think that their fan base is die-hard enough to still sell out their playoff opener. I guess not. It's a shame a lot of people won't be able to watch this game in their region at home.
