Keep in mind, too, that it's not just Roger Goodell. The league is run by the owners. It's their lockout, and until they see their bottom line suffer to an extent greater than it would by giving the refs what they want, they have little incentive to budge.

Maybe they think that since they survived replacement players in 1987, they can survive with replacement refs. Hard to say, since owners have been largely silent on this matter.

I heard this on the radio this morning…..does anyone know if it’s true??

They said that some of the replacement ref’s were fired by the Lingerie Football League.

Funny thing is the one and only NFL franchise owned by the fans are the Green Bay Packers. The same team that got royally hosed last night.

They also said this morning that 2 of the ref’s in last night’s game were fired from the PAC-12.

These are the people in charge of the game @ it’s fastest level!!

but hey....@ least they are trying!!

biggest problem i have w/the last call in last night's game is how the ref's (@ least from what i saw) didn't get together and discuss what the call should be....instead they went w/the touchdown call.

john clayton said on the radio this morning that from what he saw, the referee, instead of running down to talk it out w/the 2 ref's on what call is the right one, he immediately went to the replay booth.

and what's up w/the crappy ruffing the passer penalties this year??

i can count @ least 3 against the Packers this season already where they were just finishing the play and not doing anything intentional.

Yeah I guess not everyone realized how bad the refs would be during the regular season but I could tell by how poorly they were doing in pre-season, it's not like some magic switch was going to be flipped and they would suddenly get better. Player safety and the quality of the game are both suffering, it's just ridiculous.

Stop blaming the Refs for the Packers record they are horrid so far this year the team is not as good as we all expected. That offensive Line in Green Bay is offensive, did the refs make mistakes yes, but they sure as hell didnt lose the game for them. once again 21-4 pass to run plays not enough HB Options, 9 Sacks 8 in the first half, yea that wasn't the refs that was poor GB planning. Bad calls are going both ways. This one is just a bit more obvious.

So we now have refs who couldn't hack it in college football and others who last officiated lingerie football games. Have we scraped the bottom of the barrel yet or are they going to hire WWE referees next? I mean you can probably sock an opposing player with brass knucks or a steel chair and the officials would miss it.

i'm not blaming the ref's for anything more than the 3 horrendous calls made on that last drive last night….no one can argue that the PI on Shields was bogus. My biggest problem was the crap roughing the passer on Walden that took away the interception. No way that gets called w/the regular ref’s in there.

And it’s not just the Packer games I’ve seen that in. There have been some really, REALLY crappy roughing the passer penalties called this season so far.

At least one ref was fired by the Missouri Valley Football Conference (FCS) for poor performance. If he can't cut it in FCS he shouldn't be anywhere near the NFL.

Apparently the NFL did not watch the same game we did last night

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap100...headline_stack

NFL Statement above

Quote:
Replay Official Howard Slavin stopped the game for an instant replay review. The aspects of the play that were reviewable included if the ball hit the ground and who had possession of the ball. In the end zone, a ruling of a simultaneous catch is reviewable. That is not the case in the field of play, only in the end zone.

Referee Wayne Elliott determined that no indisputable visual evidence existed to overturn the call on the field, and as a result, the on-field ruling of touchdown stood. The NFL Officiating Department reviewed the video today and supports the decision not to overturn the on-field ruling following the instant replay review.
WTF GAME WERE THEY WATCHING

Quote:
Rule 8, Section 1, Article 3, Item 5 states:

Simultaneous Catch. If a pass is caught simultaneously by two eligible opponents, and both players retain it, the ball belongs to the passers. It is not a simultaneous catch if a player gains control first and an opponent subsequently gains joint control. If the ball is muffed after simultaneous touching by two such players, all the players of the passing team become eligible to catch the loose ball.
As we all saw Jennings Had control then Tate got control so the call is totally wrong

Wait did I have a time limit in-which to respond? And yes because I wasn't posing an absolute it certainly allows me to make adjustments as I see fit And actually it was more to point out the lunacy of the comment (since it wasn't even you that made it lol ) regarding should have/could have situations which I hope include the absurd "well they had 59 minutes to win "

If one team kicks the crap out of the other for the whole game then one call probably won't make a difference, but when you have an evenly matched game ONE bad call related to field position, possession or scoring can determine who wins the game. This is regardless of how well one or both of the teams have been playing. So while I appreciate your point that the easiest way not to lose is to win your argument that Green Bay is to be blamed for this loss just isn't valid.

This crap reminds of June 9th's result when Pacquiao lost his WBO belt against Bradley in a match he clearly won. The replays last night clearly indicates an interception. How the hell can you see a TD reception off this? The sad thing is, both outcomes will never be reversed.
