This one is just so huge because it happened with 0.0 on the clock, and is particularly egregious.
That’s just it….all of the crappy calls….for and against both teams…..def. had an effect on the outcome of the game.

u penalize Rice instead of Shields on that PI and the Seahawks aren't that close then. or you nullify that roughing the passer penalty on Walden and the game is over.

I sure hope the real ref’s are back this weekend or next b/c the quality of the game is going down hill.

  • i can almost guarantee we will never see or hear from the ref (that called the TD) again. i mean, that Redskins wide receiver gets DEATH THREATS because he threw a ball at a player and "cost" his team a precious week 2 game, what in the world would happen if that ref gets spotted on a city street? ouch.
actually Morgan didn't cost them the game just field position, Cundiff still had to hit the 43 yarder.. which isn't a guarentee.. but yes stupid move by him.. I'm sure we will hear about the famous game winning interception when EPSN does one of their awful moements in sports history shows

Robinson also dropped a home run ball earlier in the game... Lot more went on then Morgan, those are just dumb people

Tragedy Breeds Triumph? NFL, Refs on Verge of Potential Agreement

A small piece on today's news that may have the refs back for Week 4 as well as some snappy comments from the Twitter-sphere from some celebs and athletes!

That said, it is pretty disgraceful that the NFL came out and not only backed the worst call ever, they spoke about it as if footage didn't exist! We can watch it a thousand times and know what happened, yet Dictator Goodell tells us otherwise.

Bud Selig, Roger Goodell, Gary Bettman...the only figurehead that doesn't instantly connote corruption is whoever the hell is running the NBA.

lol Who IS running the NBA?

Same guy whose been running the NBA since 1984, David Stern. And he's absolutely terrible. A far worse commissioner than Goodell - who I think is much better than most give him credit for. Read up on the last NBA CBA agreement if you want a complete joke. It was a complete cave to the superstars/big market teams. At least the NFL strives for parity. The NBA has become a joke with all the superstars congregating to a handful of teams.

Why is that every time I see a replay of the ref throwing his hat and making Ogletree slip makes crack up all the time? I swear people look at me stupid when I do so. I can't help it, it's funny.

We just got the NFL Network on Time-Warner cable in time for the Monday Night debacle ! !

ESPN Sports Science jusy did a frame-by-frame analysis of "the catch" and the interception that was an interception to everyone but, the NFL and the Officials.

The agreement includes the following key terms:

» Eight-year term covering the 2012-2019 seasons.

» The current defined benefit pension plan will remain in place for current officials through the 2016 season (or until the official earns 20 years of service). The defined benefit plan will then be frozen.

» Retirement benefits will be provided for new hires, and for all officials beginning in 2017, through a defined contribution arrangement, which will have two elements: an annual league contribution made on behalf of each game official that will begin with an average of more than $18,000 per official and increase to more than $23,000 per official in 2019, and a partial match on any additional contribution that an official makes to his 401(k) account.

» Apart from their benefit package, the game officials' compensation will increase from an average of $149,000 a year in 2011 to $173,000 in 2013, rising to $205,000 by 2019.

» Beginning with the 2013 season, the NFL will have the option of hiring a number of officials on a full-time basis to work year-round, including on the field.

» The NFL will have the option to retain additional officials for training and development purposes, and may assign those additional officials to work NFL games. The number of additional officials will be determined by the NFL.

The best thing that can happen will be players, coaches and commentators reacting to bad calls with the same indignation they had prior to the replacements. I'd hate to see a blown call and everybody pasting smiles on their faces and saying "How do we react to this?" through gritted teeth.

On a side note, a big "atta boy" to Ed Hochuli for keeping the refs educated and tested during the lockout.

Benny while the real refs are back tonight how much better are they going to be this week due to the simple fact they have been off for so long. All the crews are going to be rusty and are probably going to blow a lot of calls or if anything maybe well even have more calls who knows. Granted there should be more consistency I will give you that, but i wouldn't expect everything to be all roses.

While most of us complain about the Replacements at least they allowed us to have football in some capacity, it may not have been the greatest but perhaps we should at least thank them for that.

I’d @ lest hope they will know what is a roughing the passer really looks like and how to distinguish between Off. vs. Def. pass interference. As well as holding on the off. line…..b/c that was getting really bad in some of the games I watched this season so far.

If nothing else, I’m hoping for a little more speed when it comes to throwing the flag and making a decision and not wasting 2-3 min. on each call only to get it wrong.

And def. not throwing the flag AFTER the play is already over.
