Some interesting stats i found about our old and new TE... Here are last years stats...

Boss - Total receiving YDS = 531
Miller = 685

Boss - Total catches = 35
Miller = 60

Boss - Ave Yds Per Catch = 15.2
Miller = 11.4

Boss - TD's = 5
Miller = 5

Boss - 1st downs = 22
Miller = 36

Boss - Plays over 20yds = 9
Miller = 11

While yes Miller is still the better player and i will miss him, Boss will be targeted more often this year as our WR core is still young and inexperianced, which should lead to more yards & receptions, and is a better blocker which will help our running game.. And best of all he came Alot cheaper

Eagles franchise player Michael Vick confirmed Friday that he's begun long-term contract talks with the team.
Profootballtalk.com reported last week that discussions were in their "initial" stage, and it sounds like they're advancing. Vick is 31 years old with a potentially short shelf life because he relies so much on his legs, so finding common ground on a long-term agreement may not be easy. The Eagles should be careful to avoid locking too much money into Vick beyond the 2012 season.

I agree he probably just had a career year last season and won't have those kind of stats again. Vick is also very injury prone with the way he plays, so I don't see him as a long-term QB. But considering the ridiculous deal Arizona gave Kolb (who's barely even started in his career), the Vick deal isn't bad by comparison.

The only thing holding Vick back is injuries. I think he is more focused now than he ever was in Atlanta. He also has a much better supporting cast than he ever had in Atlanta. I believe he will have a better season this year than he had last year as long as he doesn't get injured. Perhaps we have been away from football too long and need to remember what he is capable of. Sorry Redskins fans.

I don't care what team you do that to. It is impressive and is the reason for all the Eagles hype. They were already good before they acquired a number of good players this offseason. Injuries are the only thing holding them back.

+1..

Im buying into the Vick hype also, he will put up MVP style numbers this year, with the defense they put together, the Eagles offense will have the ball alot, therefore more chances for Vick to shine...

Had he never gone to prison I think Vick's career might be over by now. Ironically those few years in prison and on the Eagles bench certainly prolonged his career by giving his body plenty of time to heal. It's kinda like how Ricky Williams managed to play well into his 30's thanks to his temporary retirement. Though I still don't get how the Vick goes to prison and comes out a far better passer than he'd ever been in his life. He literally went from one of the worst completion rates (usually around 53%) in his early years to a 63% completion rate last year.

It's because he wasn't focused early in his career. Prison changes people. I think he has a different approach to football and life in general. He basically relied on his physical ability to get by earlier in his career. He actually cares about the other parts of his game now. Obviously I don't know this for sure, but I've heard other people say this and it makes a lot of sense.

I did mention the injuries are the only thing holding him back(as they did in that game)

The Eagles lost in the playoffs by 5 points to the eventual Super Bowl champion Packers, so its not like it was a terrible loss or anything. I'll take a playoff appearance over a 6-10 season every time.

6 tds is a BFD in any game. You do have to be good in the regular season to get to the playoffs. It's understandable that you don't like Vick. He is the star quarterback of a division rival and maybe you don't like him for what he did off the field, but are you denying he was good last year and has the ability to be even better this year?

And the Bears are off to another PR nightmare thanks to the park district lol

http://www.chicagobears.com/news/New...?story_id=8026

Quote:
CHICAGO – The Bears were forced to cancel their Family Fest practice Friday night at Soldier Field after it was determined that the field conditions were not safe for the players.

The team returned to Bourbonnais to conduct a practice that will not be open to media or fans.

Soldier Field general manager Tim LeFevour said the field conditions had nothing to do with a U2 concert and Manchester United soccer game that were recently held at the stadium.
The Bears knew about this yesterday. Fans were texting on the Bears facebook page while stuck in traffic. And Lollapoolza is downtown this weekend to starting tonight...lol

http://www.rotoworld.com/recent/nfl/4259/leron-mcclain

Quote:
Coach Todd Haley confirmed that FB Le'Ron McClain will not take any carries away from Jamaal Charles or Thomas Jones.
McClain has been outspoken in the past about his desire to carry the rock previously. But Haley made it very clear to McClain what his role is. "I'm a fullback, and I'm here to win. Two things. Just two things: Getting Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones 1,000 (yards) apiece, that's what I'm here to do," McClain said.
I think it's funny how he lost weight and trained to carry the ball more and now he doesn't seem to care at all. He has been lobbying over a year now for more carries and basically told the Ravens that he wanted more carries or he would walk. He walked and Ravens signed Vonta Leach, who is widely considered the best lead blocker in football. I wonder if McClain would have resigned if he had known that nobody was going to pay him to carry the ball. At least he got some touches in Baltimore. It doesn't sound like he will be getting any in KC unless an injury occurs or Thomas Jones breaks down(which would not surprise me).

Jeff Darlington of the Miami Herald tracked down Brett Favre in Hattiesburg (MS) on Friday, and Favre confirmed to Darlington that he's not coming back to the NFL.
"I haven't heard anything, and I don't have any interest," Favre told Darlington. "No. You're from Miami? Don't you have anything better to do?" You wouldn't have known it from ridiculous rumors spread lately, but Favre is retired. For good. Darlington closely observed Favre, and he's looking like an old man. "Brett Favre walks slowly and gingerly," described Darlington, "every step taking considerable effort." Favre has no business returning to football at his age or in his physical condition. It's over.

lol I actually like Vick and hope he continues to rebuild his life. And just like Daunte Culpepper in 2004 throwing 39 touchdowns and 4717 yards wow that would have been amazing! (unless Peyton did better that year). It doesn't matter.

NFL isn't baseball with the stats. Just like nobody cares about what Culpepper did in 04 nobody will care about this in a few years. (oh and Culpepper's year was WAY better than Vicks this year )

I love how Coughlin says the Umenyiora's knee is a concern and he's sidelined but they wanted a 1st round draft pick and wouldn't lower it for many suitors. Now they have a disgruntled guy with a potential knee problem.

Fail Giants. Keep sliding down that hill.

So you bring up a guy who had a great year and never repeated and that is your reasoning for Vick not improving? That could happen to anyone. I'm sure some people care what Culpepper did and maybe he could have repeated his success, but I think most people agree that he struggled to return from injury and possibly had a questionable work ethic. This does not seem to be the case with Vick at this point. Nobody will care about this in a few years? Do you have a time machine or something? You're just guessing/hoping this will happen. The arrow seems to be pointing up for Vick, not down, but like I said before, he could get injured.

I just don't see a reason Vick won't improve on his success and pointing at Culpepper doesn't prove anything. ANYONE can get injured and have their career ended or forever changed. I think you're just a homer who hates the Eagles, which is fine. I hate the Steelers with a passion and HOPE that Roethlisberger has an awful season, but i'm not blinded by my homerism. I would bet that Roethlisberger has a good season and they make a playoff run again.

Anyway, the season hasn't even started yet. Vick will prove one of us wrong during the season.

The way I understand it is that the Giants wanted to prove to Osi that he was not worth the money he was asking for. If he was actually worth that money than someone would have been willing to give up a 1st round pick. I would have traded him for a 2nd. He's obviously angry and doesn't want to be there.

What I think is more funny is how Mike Brown won't trade Carson Palmer because "Carson signed a contract. He made a commitment. He gave his word.". Did Ochocinco not have a contract with the Bengals? He was asking out of Cincinnati a year ago and now he gets his wish for a trade? So if Carson had played one more year without complaints, would he have been allowed a trade? Pretty laughable if you ask me.

lol what? Nobody is saying Vick won't improve, just like I didn't say I hated Vick (and in our other thread I backed him all year).

What I'm saying is nobody cares about stats at least in the NFL for individual players.

Bottom line.

Where do you get that from? Just because you don't care doesn't mean that is the case for everyone. I certainly care and I know I am not the only one. Anyone who plays fantasy football certainly cares. People care about stats in every sport.
