Time Warner doesnt have NFLN either. Damn greedy bastards! From what I understand the argument between most cable companies and the NFL has to do with the pricing of the channel. Cable companies obviously want to charge it as a premium channel while the NFL wants it to be part of the standard cable package while still collecting premium channel broadcast fees. Either way I know Goodell was supposed to be working on it but I dont expect it to be resolved any time soon.

I used to work for a cable company and NFLN is the biggest rip off out of any channel on anyone's network. In addition to the prices they charged for the channel roughly (.75c per subscriber), in order to secure the rights for the Thursday night games the NFL wanted our company to pay somewhere around 3 million dollars per Thursday night game per season. Roughly 25 million per season extra on a 4 year contract or they wanted you to move the channel to basic TV and up everyone's bill it is retarded. Time Warner is credited with being the first cable company to tell them to shove it which is nice.

For those of you unable to get NFLN on your TV's this year call DirecTV. They have a very nice deal where you get NFL Sunday Ticket for free this season and your TV bill is only 33 dollars/mo on there basic package. I do think you need to get there second lowest package tho to get NFL network Which does give you all Thursday games, and there are some good ones this season!

Since we are on Bluray.com I can tell you DirecTV does have the better picture compared to cable, and does have some channels that broadcast in 1080p. I will never go back to a cable company just due to the picture quality that DirecTV has compared to most cable companies. They are expensive tho by the time you add in HD DVR and Total home DVR charges that adds like 20 extra dollars to your bill. If you have multiple TV's it is 5 dollar per month for each box you need to put in. My Bill I think is around 75 a month + 60 per month for 5 months for NFL Sunday ticket.

There customer service reps on the phone blow most of the time, however I do have a direct contact to someone in the corporate offices Id be happy to give out that has been spectacular whenever I had major issues.

Yes but then you are stuck with satelite with their slow menu loadings, slow channel changings, and loss of cable everytime their is a strong breeze or someone sneezes too hard in your house. I have had satelite at a business I owned and an apartment I lived at. It was terrible. I will never do that again.

Honestly it was not installed right. If you have DTV HR20 or standard HD box there is a known issue with the menus and stuff, they plan on tossing a patch down to resolve it. I have the HR24 DVR and have no issues no slow channel changes and no menu lag. I also do not lose my signal when there is a storm snow or rain, the guy who did my install (me) did a phenominal job =0)

I still haven't seen numbers for the Mankins deal but no matter what I'm in favor of it. First off he's been underpaid his whole career and even if they paid a bit of a premium I'd look at it as back pay since he would have gotten a huge payday last year if it wasn't for the uncapped year rules. Second he's only 29 so I could easily see him staying at a high level for at least four more years and potentially the entire six year deal. I also know that Mankins is the type that will never complain about his deal and will remain a good leader for the rest of his career.

It also came out yesterday that both Chad Ochocinco and Albert Haynesworth took pay cuts to come to New England. Ocho was due to make $6 million but will now make $1 million in base salary and could earn more in performance bonuses. Haynesworth was due $5.4 million but now has a $1.5 million base salary. If he plays 20 percent of the defensive snaps, he’ll earn another $1 million, and he can earn nearly $3 million more if he plays 65 percent of the snaps. He’ll also get a bonus for getting to the Pro Bowl. If he hits all of the incentives, he’ll earn $5.85 million.

Tomorrow can't come soon enough. I guess I'll have to be satisfied watching other teams scrimmage against one another tonight.

Thats scary, because either he thinks he's like LaVar Arrington and better than he is and took a big incentive based deal. Or he's ready to Ball out

Anyone try to get Directv to give them the package even though they are not new subscribers? Or at least a discount on the package?

You shouldnt have to threaten to leave tho for them to hook you up. Thats the problem with these compnies today.

That's the point. If they really cared they would hook current customers up. I was thinking about signing up for it this year but seeing that next season would cost 300+ (unless they give some good discount) I passed.
