I don't mind punishing QB's but when he's clearly thrown the ball and you try to pile drive him... Should have been 60k.

I think the Redskins will be fine and Hightower will be a stud. He's my big sleeper in fantasy this year. He just seems like a Shanahan type of running back that is under the radar and ends up with 1,200 yards, especially with how bad the Redskins passing game will be.

Yeah he might be a sleeper #2, they have a solid run-blocking line, if it can stay healthy. Time will tell if they can run consistently against what should usually be 8-9 man fronts though.

I agree... I think the counter and zone runs will benefit Hightower greatly not to mention he's got a team that isn't trying to one up him every second of the year like in AZ.

But again can't do much if John Beck can only thorw 3 yard checkdowns

Lions' Suh apparently fined $20,000 for QB hit

Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is used to hitting quarterbacks. Wednesday, he apparently was hit by the NFL with a $20,000 fine.

In Friday's exhibition game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Suh slammed quarterback Andy Dalton to the turf after Dalton released a pass in the first quarter.

Suh posted on Twitter Wednesday: "$20,000REALLY??? #NFL #BIGFAIL"

Last season, Suh got a $7,500 fine for a hit on Cleveland Browns quarterback Jake Delhomme during an exhibition matchup and $15,000 for hitting the Chicago Bears' Jay Cutler during the regular season.

According to SI.com's Don Banks, John Beck will be the Redskins' starting quarterback in Week 1 unless he "falls on his face" in preseason action.
"Beck will win the job if it's even remotely close," writes Banks, who was at Redskins camp last week. Reiterated coach Mike Shanahan of Beck, "I had him as my top (college quarterback) coming out (in 2007). He can do it all. The guy just has never really had a chance in pro football. He hasn't played." Grossman was excellent in Washington's exhibition opener, but this appears to be a training camp battle skewed heavily toward Beck.

It was a bigger fine for Suh since it was his third offense and there's a decent chance that if he does something similar he'll be looking at a $75,000 fine like James Harrison.

Report: Stafford restructures contract to give Lions cap relief

Allen Park- According to a report, Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford agreed to restructure his contract, which helped the team gain another $6 million in salary cap space for this season.

According to Crain's Detroit Business, Stafford agreed to transfer $8.475 million due this season into a signing bonus to be paid over several seasons. He will make $525,000 in base salary this season, plus a $3.4 million bonus which was agreed to last season.

Thus, according to the report, Stafford's salary counts $6.1 million against the cap this season, instead of $12.48 million.

Stafford's rookie contract, signed in 2009, was for six years and $78 million. Here, again, according to Crain's, is how the contract breaks down in its three remaining years.

— In 2012, his base salary is $10.5 million, with $2.7 million guaranteed. His cap number is $16,098,750.

— In 2013, his base salary is $11.5 million, none of it guaranteed, and his cap number is $17,098,750.

— In 2014, his base salary is $11 million, none of it guaranteed, and his cap number is $16,598,750.

Yeah that fine was quite justified. Suh needs to keep his emotions in check, I'd hate to see him become a dirty player.

Meh he barely touched him in all honesty, The slam was what it was, the helmet came off because it was not strapped on right, look at the video again his Biceps are around the helmet because his hands are on the shoulder pads. It was not a "Vicious" a hit as every makes it out to be. Its the fricking NFL I'm tired of this cant touch the QB crap, and defenseless receiver BS, as well as Cant touch Receiver past the 5 yard line.

Free agent OG Leonard Davis is reportedly visiting the Lions Tuesday night and Wednesday.
The 32-year-old started every game for the past four years in Dallas, so he's one of the few quality free agents remaining. The Lions can certainly use experienced depth behind Jeff Backus (pectoral) and Gosder Cherilus (knee), but it's been five years since Davis played tackle.
