Anthony Fasano's deal with Chiefs is four years, $16 million, including $4.5 million signing bonus, per league source.

That's a lot for a player lacking playmaking ability! He's an excellent blocker though.

Few things about Dansby:

By the way, aside from being a cap move, the reason Dansby is gone is his play didn't produce the kind of game-changing plays the Dolphins wanted or expected when he came to the team in 2010 as an unrestricted free agent addition.

In addition, Dansby irked head coach Joe Philbin on a couple of occassions by openly criticizing the team's handling of the Chad Johnson cut and also by announcing he was playing with a torn biceps muscle after the Dolphins asked him not to speak about the injury.

Philbin discussed the issues with Dansby but it apparently left the coach at least wondering if Dansby was a fit.

If Dansby has been a better player, the issues with Philbin might have been forgotten. He wasn't so they were amplified.

Dansby, 31, led the Dolphins with 133 tackles. He had nine tackles for loss but he neither caused nor recovered any fumbles and did not intercept any passes.

This move takes into account the player Dansby is today, but also next year when he'll be 32 years old and costing $11.575 million against the cap.

Instead the Dolphins will carry $4.6 million in dead money for cutting Dansby this year and another $2.3 million in dead money next year.

Ellerbe might not be an upgrade for next season, but it's a good move for the long-term. I'm glad Ireland is still thinking long term.

Harvin numbers coming. $67 million over six years. $14.5 million fully guaranteed.

Per a league source, it’s a six-year, $67 million deal that replaces the last year of Harvin’s rookie deal, at $2.775 million in salary.

Thus, the total average is $11.16 million. In new money (i.e., $67 million less the $2.775 million over five years), Harvin’s average annual haul is $12.845 million.

He gets a $12 million signing bonus, paid in full by the end of 2013 in a state that has no income tax.

The base salaries are $2.5 million in 2013 (fully guaranteed), $11 million in 2014 (guaranteed for injury for now, fully guaranteed on fifth day of the 2014 waiver period), $10.5 million in 2015, $9.9 million in 2016, $9.95 million in 2016, and $11.15 million in 2017.

Thus, $14.5 million is fully guaranteed, with another $11 million guaranteed fully after the 2013 season. The total guarantee, then, is $25.5 million.

He also gets $36 million over the first three years of the deal.

If Flacco's cap number is relatively low for the 2013 season why are the Ravens letting all these quality players walk? Were they really THAT far over the cap even without paying Flacco $20+ mill in year 1 of the new deal?

Those players won't take 1 or 2 year deal. Long term the Ravens were screwed.

Talks between Welker and Pats are over

Sources tell Ian Rapoport of NFL.com that talks between free agent Wes Welker and the Patriots are "over at this point."

Rapoport is former Patriots beat writer. He goes on to say that fellow free agent slot receiver Danny Amendola is "waiting in the wings," a potential hint that the Pats don't consider Welker a priority any longer. Based on Welker's early-season usage and the lack of progress on a new deal throughout the offseason, it shouldn't come as a huge surprise. Welker's market around the league won't be scorching hot as a scheme-dependent, 31-year-old niche player.
