I think the one-year deal pretty much confirm that Gavin Escobar will be our pick at #42. Keller is just a stop-gap to replace Fasano. Not the same type of player though, but we needed a veteran TE for 2013.

Why go for Blount why not make a move for Martin, Martin and a 1st would be worth it.

I don't know if the Bucs would trade Martin for Revis straight up, and they definitely wouldn't give up Martin and a first for Revis.

Well it does keep them from making long term investments in these other guys since they have to guarantee whatever amount and know they have 8mil more in Flacco the next 2, and then 15m (on top of the 8) the years after.

Bucs cornerback Eric Wright lost his grievance over the guaranteed money in his contract being voided because of his failed drug test. The contract he signed last year guaranteed his $7.75 million contract for the 2013 season, but when he was suspended for PEDs (he said it was prescription Adderall) the money was no longer guaranteed, and since Wright was terrible last year there's no way the Bucs are going to keep him at the salary he was due. The Bucs could now try and renegotiate Wright's contract at a lesser salary or they could release him.

Keller's one-year deal is further proof players are taking short-term deals to reestablish their value in the hope of a bigger payday in a year or two when there's a higher salary cap.

In fact, Keller turned down a longer deal the Dolphins offered him during his initial visit Thursday, according to a person briefed on the negotiations. The person, who spoke to USA TODAY Sports on condition of anonymity because the talks were to remain private, said the average per year on the long-term offer was roughly the same as on the one-year deal Keller eventually signed.

The shorter deal would allow Keller the chance to prove his worth after an injury-plagued 2012 season and the Dolphins get a player motivated to get that payday next year.

Contract is worth $4.25 million.

I'm serious. Contract was not filed by 1:59 p.m. Elvis Dumervil informed Broncos he was taking the new deal at 1:25.

Broncos didn't get fax with Elvis Dumervil signature on contract until 2:07 p.m. -- 7 minutes and 1 second past the deadline!

Wild stuff on Dumervil right now: It's clock management. Agent made a "colossal mistake," source says, by not getting signed contract faxed.

Dumervil is now a free agent, and team faces potential salary cap implications as a result. Team and Dumervil agreed to terms at 1:35 MT.

Team hadn't received signed contract via fax at 1:59 p.m. If Broncos didn't waive Elvis, they had to pay original $12 million, source says.

"We had to protect ourselves," Broncos source said. In other words, they had to cut Dumervil despite agreement to reduction 35 min. earlier.

He is a free agent. Dumervil is represented by MRM, and is by far their biggest/best client. If this was truly a matter of the agent not getting the paperwork in on time I would expect Dumervil to fire the agent and potentially sue the agency if he isn't able to find a comparable contract. This isn't going to be a matter of the Broncos just agreeing to sign him to the deal he had agreed to because they took a $3.25 million cap hit when they released him and re-signing him won't erase that.

Edit: On MRM's website they still list Travis Henry as a client. Henry hasn't played since 2007 and spent time in federal prison for drug trafficking. He has at least 11 children by 10 different women.
