CBS Sports' Bruce Feldman reports the NFL is considering restricting college players declared academically ineligible from the NFL Scouting Combine.
Per Feldman, the league is considering the rule "because of the increased scrutiny on the maturity and commitment of the prospects entering the NFL." A "sizable" number of players would've been restricted from the 2013 Combine after being declared academically ineligible late in their college careers. In addition to the rule that prohibits collegiates from participating in spring OTAs before their colleges graduate -- annually setting many rookies back and arguably decreasing their long-term earning potential -- this new potential rule is another attempt by the NFL to legislate academic obedience, a respectable accomplishment but one that realistically has no place on pro football fields. Kids shouldn't be forced to care about school. They're football players with a specific, honed talent, and they get great jobs right out of college.

EA Sports removes Aaron Hernandez

EA Sports, the maker of the popular video games "Madden NFL 25" and "NCAA Football 14", has opted to remove former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez from each game, a company spokesperson told CBSSports.com.

Hernandez is currently in jail in relation to six charges, including a charge for the murder of Odin Lloyd, and was released by the Patriots shortly after his arrest. NFL teams were notified that no contract for Hernandez would be approved prior to the resolution of his charges, as the NFL would need to further investigate possible league punishment for his actions.

An image of Hernandez on a card appears in "NCAA Football 14" as a Nike Skills Trainer reward for an achievement, but the company spokesperson added that the image will soon be removed.

"Because 'NCAA Football 14' was finalized prior to our decision, Hernandez's image still appears in the Nike Skills Trainer," he said. "However, he is not in the game, and anyone who unlocks that particular Nike Skills Trainer reward will receive an Alex Smith Ultimate Team player item instead. The image of Hernandez will be removed via a Title Update in the near future."

Hernandez, who starred at the University of Florida prior to being selected in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL draft, was signed to a five-year extension worth roughly $39 million by the Patriots last August.

Sounds like nothing new. Just another book about "faith and redemption" judging by the summary. He even got Tony Dungy to shill for him if you look at the cover.

Baloney. Once you get in a courtroom the circus atmosphere isn't a factor. It all comes down to the jury and while it might be a tough process to find a dozen jurors who don't have an opinion already formed on a high profile case, it's certainly possible. The evidence in this case appears to be very overwhelming from what has been made public thus far. It'll be interesting to see what kind of defense his lawyer uses. I'm guessing the "Chewbacca Defense."
