The NFL has granted Jacksonville a 24 hour extension to sell about 6,000 more tickets in order to lift a blackout in the home opener against the Titans.

Looks like it might not happen. This will be the first game blacked out since the 09-10 season.

As well as it turned out, I don't want another last season this season. Injuries are annoying!!! I think Tramon is one of the few indispensable players we have. He's turned into our cover corner.

As of yesterday afternoon there were about 4,000 seats available. Usually when the NFL grants an extension the team has agreed to buy all the unsold tickets. Under NFL rules a team can pay 34% of face value for all unsold tickets, so if the Jaguars average face value is $100 then buying 4,000 tickets would cost them $136,000, which they can easily afford since they are $35 million under the cap and saved over $8 million by releasing David Garrard. It's also possible a sponsor or the local CBS affiliate could buy the tickets and give them away.

That's the best case scenario. Manning out at least 2-3 months after undergoing neck fusion surgery.

Coach Mike McCarthy concedes that James Starks "probably didn't have the attempts that he deserved" in the opening-night victory over the Saints.
Starks didn't touch the ball until five minutes were gone in the second quarter. From then on, he rushed for 57 yards on 12 carries compared to Ryan Grant's six carries for 21 yards in the same span. Grant was the more fundamentally sound pass protector, but there's no denying the chasm separating the two as runners right now. Starks' role will continue to grow at Grant's expense.

The Packers-Saints game got a 17.2 rating, the second-highest rating for a regular season game in 13 years.

I'm not even 60 miles from Tampa and I don't get the Detroit-TB game. No, instead I get the Falcons versus the Bears.

Oh, and of course I get every frigging NFC South game. Where's the vomit smiley?

The Detroit-Tampa game is blacked out to everyone within a 75-mile radius of Tampa's home stadium since the game didn't sell out. This will happen for every Tampa home game since they aren't expected to sell out any games this year.

Yeah you are under blackout restrictions, even if you had NFL Sunday ticket it would get blacked out which blows but not much you can do. If you are under black out watch Red Zone as Blackout restrictions dont apply you will get the game or near live highlights of the game everytime each team is inside the 20.

A lot of players have said they are going to wear special red, white, and blue gear (pictured below) this weekend in honor of 9/11. The thing is the NFL hasn't approved this, and the NFL is very strict about their uniform policy. It's going to be interesting if the league fines players for wearing this gear as Lance Briggs has said he's wearing the gear and expects to be fined as much as $15,000. Other players that will reportedly wear the gear include Matt Hasselbeck, Jamaal Charles, Chris Cooley, and several Chargers players. It's likely many other players will wear the gear as well.

Profootballtalk reports the Cowboys are closing in on a five-year, $40 million extension with NT Jay Ratliff.

The deal would be a five-year extension of the two years left on his current deal at $3.75 million in 2011 and $4.875 million in 2012. The new money includes $18 million in guarantees for the three-time Pro Bowler. Ratliff is entering his age-30 season, so it's an extreme longshot that he'll see all five years of that extension.

RVING, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys and Jay Ratliff have agreed on a five-year contract extension worth $40 million, according to a source. Ratliff is expected to sign the deal after Friday's practice. It includes $18 million in guaranteed money. The Cowboys have had talks with Ratliff's agent, Mark Slough, since the early part of training camp and Slough was at the team's Valley Ranch facility earlier in the week.

If he reaches the end of the deal in 2017, Ratliff would essentially be a Cowboy for life. Ratliff had two years remaining on his contract with base salaries of $3.75 million and $4.875 million. In 2007 Ratliff signed a five-year, $20.9 million extension and has since played in the Pro Bowls the last three seasons. Ratliff has started 63 games in his career and has 25 sacks. He took over as a starter in 2007 after Jason Ferguson suffered a torn triceps in the season opener and developed into one of the best nose tackles in football. While undersized for a traditional 3-4 scheme, Ratliff uses his speed, quickness and leverage to make plays. Like the entire defense in 2010, Ratliff's numbers were down with 34 tackles and 3.5 sacks. For the first time as a starter he did not have a tackle for loss. But with Rob Ryan taking over as defensive coordinator the Cowboys believe those numbers will climb in 2011 with Ratliff being moved all over the defensive line.
