Patriots placed RB Shane Vereen (wrist surgery) on injured reserve/designated to return.
Vereen was expected to miss only 2-3 weeks, but as usual with the Patriots, we didn't know the truth. Vereen won't be eligible to practice for six weeks, and can't return until Week 11 (New England is on bye in Week 10). It's a massive blow for an offense that's unusually short on playmakers as it waits for Rob Gronkowski to return. It also means Stevan Ridley could start getting some run on third downs, but Leon Washington is a candidate for passing-down snaps. Inexplicably, LeGarrette Blount now finds himself No. 2 on the depth chart, but that could change once Brandon Bolden (knee) returns. The Pats are likely in the market for veteran help. Vereen was primed for a fantasy breakout before going down. Put simply, it's a bummer.

Ridley will have a couple of bad games a year with 2 fumbles or so...but otherwise he will go stretches without them

Goldson is dirty as hell. He was doing that stuff all day. On another note Kerley probably won't play on Thursday because that douche gave him a concussion. It hurts because he's easily our best slot receiver. Stephen Hill and Santonio need to step up.

BTW that was Geno's only interception and as you can tell that was clearly not Geno's fault.

I really don't know if the Pats will be able to beat the Jets. They have virtually nobody to throw the ball to with Amendola likely out, Gronk out, Vereen (by far their best receiving back) out, Sudfeld likely out, and Aaron Dobson (who missed Sunday's game) banged up. Outside of Julian Edelman that only leaves rookie Kenbrell Thompkins, who cannot run a route correctly or get separation from defenders, rookie Josh Boyce (2 targets, 0 catches Sunday), and Michael Hoomanawanui, who is more of a blocking tight end. It's not like the running game is much better at the moment with Ridley in the doghouse after 2 fumbles Sunday (he was ruled down on 1 of the fumbles, but it was close).
