Vikings Owners Must Pay $85 Million For "Organized Crime-Type" Fraud

The owners of the Minnesota Vikings were ordered to pay nearly $85 million in damages to former business partners they defrauded with "evil motive", and will face a criminal investigation into their actions, which a judge declared violated racketeering laws. There's a chance this ruling could hold up plans for a new Vikings stadium.

Zygi Wilf, the majority owner of the team, and his brother Mark and cousin Leonard were found liable for fraud, breach of contract, and breach of fiduciary duty, for their roles in scamming former partners out of the profits of a New Jersey apartment complex. The Wilfs withheld revenues and charged unauthorized fees and interest payments for decades. "Organized crime-type activities," the judge called them, finding they violated the state's RICO act.

"Zygi and his father decided...that the Reichmanns had gotten too good a deal," Superior Court Judge Deanne Wilson declared. "And so they were just simply not going to honor it."

Yesterday, the judge ruled on damages. The Wilfs must pay a whopping $84.5 million, including $36.8 million in punitive damages. Under New Jersey law, the case will now be sent to the county prosecutor and state attorney general for a criminal investigation.

A teenage football fan suffered a concussion and a broken arm and nose at Candlestick Park after police say he was attacked during the San Francisco 49ers 27-7 loss to the Indianapolis Colts this weekend.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that a 29-year-old man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of beating the 15-year-old boy for urinating in the man's car.

Reports of other assaults at the game were also logged with stadium security.

49ers' season ticket holder Daisy Barringer said she was kicked and punched by another 49ers fan.

The 36-year-old said she has seen violence at both home games this year, and during the preseason.

Security was increased at the stadium two years ago after two shootings, a beating and fights broke out during a preseason game with the Oakland Raiders.

Yes, I did. I thought he would be Ryan Leaf esque. Geno Smith physically can make any throw you want him to, but I don't know how good he is at reading defenses and looking off defenders. Obvioisly against our injury riddled secondary he looked decent, but I could go out there and throw for 300 against our corners.

331 yds passing last week with 3 TD's (he has 4 total by the way) and 2-1 . He's a rookie and he's improving every week. Have you seen the absolute perfect throw to Santonio to win the game from the left hash mark across the field to the right sideline. Sanchez in his wildest dreams couldn't make that throw. He needs to tone down the TOs, but he's nowhere close to Sanchez. His arm is much stronger and his poise is lightyears ahead of Captain Butt Fumble. How exactly is your QB doing

Henne has a better QB rating than Geno Smith. So to answer your question, about as bad.

I'd say Geno is marginally better at this point. I've watched some of the Jets games and their defense is winning them games, not Geno and that offense. Their defense single-handedly kept the Jets competitive against New England in a game where Geno threw for 0 TD's and 3 picks. Very much doubt he's a long-term solution for the Jets. He's playing because he isn't Sanchez.

Same with your boy. I'm frankly a little shocked but again just like RG3 unless you can do it for year(S) it really doesn't matter. They've at least proven they belong and deserve 3-5 years of growth same with Pryor.
