I don't see the Colts contacting him if they truly are going after Luck. They can use the excuse Peyton is out, lose every game, and the fanbase would accept it because Peyton is the Colts.

The Bears revealed Wednesday that MLB Brian Urlacher has been away from the team due to the passing of his mother in Arizona.
Urlacher is currently making funeral arrangements. "My first priority right now is to be with my family as we mourn her loss and make arrangements to lay her to rest," Brian said of his mother, Lavoyda. "This is a very difficult and emotional time for us and I sincerely ask that you respect our privacy. Thank you."

In other news, Dalton can't grip the ball so he's not practicing and it sounds like Arian Foster's expected to start on Sunday.

Sam Bradford (finger) was able to practice on Wednesday, and Mike Sims-Walker told ESPN 101 St. Louis that Bradford "threw the ball pretty well" in the workout.
Bradford's finger is no longer a concern. The fact that he was cleared for the workout and able to throw passes confirms that Bradford is on track to start on Monday Night Football. The Rams are still working out how to divvy up snaps at receiver. Sims-Walker didn't get specific Wednesday about whether he'll be playing the slot, which has been Bradford's favorite position to pepper with targets in his first 17 NFL games.

I was wondering why the colts didnt just play painter? or at least cut him if there not going to use him? Why sign collins to a 2 year deal? I think the last thing the colts should do is sign david garrard. He wont do much better and if the colts are going to lose anyway lets lose big and get luck in the draft. But i always just wondered why keep painter and not let him play?

I just wonder what the Colts will do with Manning if they do bad enough to get Luck. Manning is due a $28 million bonus and $7.4 million salary next year but if the Colts cut him in March they would owe him nothing. Would the Colts be willing to cut their most popular player ever if they had a player they viewed as their quarterback of the future?

Lets say they do get Luck, wouldnt it be smarter to keep Manning and groom Luck for at least 2-3 years before he starts, ala Favre & Rodgers, that worked out pretty damn good for the Packers!

But is it worth the money ($35 million for one year, $43 million for two years) when you've got a quarterback that could be ready to start right away, especially when the veteran has had three next surgeries in the past two years? Quarterbacks recently have done pretty well starting as rookies, with Roethlisberger going to the AFC title game as a rookie, Mark Sanchez going to the AFC title game his first two years, Joe Flacco leading the Ravens to the AFC title game as a rookie, and Matt Ryan making the playoffs as a rookie. None of those QBs were considered near as ready as Luck will be.

in my opinion, that's the best thing to do w/a QB.

yeah u can throw a guy in there and get lucky.....bradford and ryan come to mind.....but i think it's better to give the guy a chance to learn the offense and just pick things up before throwing him in there full time.

I agree with keeping peyton manning and having the next qb they get watch and learn BUT...what was the point of painter then? He has been under manning and not really had any time to play much...Now manning is hurt they put painter under collins??? Like i was saying...why not start painter? OR cut him? And trust me the colts will never cut manning...He means alot to indiana...And they was going to make him the top paid QB in the game for that but he turned it down to keep players...I mean he has a hospital and all that out here they will definatley honor the guy and keep him. I feel like how reggie wayne felt tho...Why not just roll with painter since he already knew the offense and was backing up manning...why did the colts draft painter if they was going to keep him on the bench...sry makes no sense to me...

If painter was any good then they would not have resigned Collins. Painter blows the Colts know it and thats why they had to drag collins out of whatever graveyard he was in. As I said before I expect the Colts to throw the season and go for Luck, The fans in Indianapolis dont really care right now they expect a bad season because Peyton is not there. The Colts can just use the excuse he is out so the fans will accept it.

looking at the biggest sunday/monday night games this year we have

week 2 Eagles vs Falcons
week 5 Packers vs Falcons
week 8 Cowboys vs Eagles
week 10 Patriots vs Jets
week 15 Ravens vs Chargers
week 16 Bears vs Packers and Falcons vs Saints

Colts have 3 sunday night games but those look like snoozefests without manning

I'm most hyped for week 2 and 10
