Lions were too busy fumbling to notice the Ravens offense was terrible.

Money, It's always about the money...

Titans over Lions: $1M more a year for Whiz

Quote:
Ken Whisenhunt might like Nashville. He might like the Tennessee Titans' roster. And he might have hit it off with Ruston Webster.

But in choosing the Titans over the Detroit Lions and becoming Tennessee's new head coach, Whisenhunt got $1 million more in annual salary than what Detroit offered, according to a source familiar with the offers.

Some Titans critics tend to regard the team as cheap. It's not a reasonable stance given they spent big to re-sign Chris Johnson in 2011 and they doled out over $100 million in free-agent contracts last year.

This is yet another bit of evidence that the Titans are willing to spend.

Woah woah woah. I know Jurrell Casey. You need to watch more '13 Suh tape. He's been up and down in his career, and he's the biggest dumbass I've seen but worse than Jurrell Casey? Jurrell has problems in his pass protection game.

And nobody wants to be the Browns coach, just like everyone expected.

I mean seriously, hire a coach to take over a bad team and fire him after one season?

Fantastic hire. I think Zimmer should have become a head coach a couple years ago.

Didn't need to offer that much extra, but that was the icing on the cake. Detroit is just awful. Nashville is a very nice city. Detroit's offense is far and away better than ours, but it's not like they've done much better than us in recent years (or any years, for that matter) and Stafford struggles mightily against good teams.

I'm convinced he would've picked us if the money was even. It would've taken $1mil per season extra for the Lions to convince him to come.

Also, you can't ignore the fact that the NFC North is far tougher than the AFC South. The AFCS is the worst division in football... As bad as we were this season we were 12 points away from winning the division (lost to Colts 30-27 and 22-14). He knows he can win with the Titans... especially if he drafts the right QB.

Bill Lazor is Dolphins new OC

per ESPN

Quote:
PHILADELPHIA -- Right coach, wrong city.

A day after speculation swirled that Eagles quarterbacks coach Bill Lazor would go to Detroit, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports Lazor will be the new offensive coordinator of the Miami Dolphins.

The 41-year-old Lazor spent just one season on Eagles coach Chip Kelly's staff. He spent the three previous seasons as the offensive coordinator at the University of Virginia. Before that, Lazor worked as an assistant for NFL head coaches Dan Reeves, Joe Gibbs and Mike Holmgren.

His depth and breadth of experience make Lazor attractive, but his work in Philadelphia can't be overlooked. Lazor coached Nick Foles to the highest passer rating (119.2) in the NFL and a record touchdown/interception ratio of 27 to 2. Lazor also worked closely with rookie Matt Barkley, who is likely to be the Eagles' No. 2 quarterback in 2014.

Any coaching departure is cause for concern, especially when it affects young players like Foles and Barkley. But the Eagles have some redundancy built in. Kelly works with the quarterbacks, and offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur has coached quarterbacks from Donovan McNabb to Sam Bradford to Foles.

In Miami, Lazor will work with quarterback Ryan Tannehill trying to revitalize the offensive system run by head coach Joe Philbin.

Lol where did I say he's worse than Casey? I said Casey had a better season than Suh. And don't use the Pro Bowl as a reason for Suh having a better season. Suh is a big name player, and everyone knows him. The Pro Bowl is a popularity contest. I have watched plenty of tape on Suh, and he's been the better player overall, but not this season.

Casey had the best season of any DT.

I've never heard a d-lineman needing help in his pass protection game. I assume you mean he needs help in his pass rush game? Well, why did he lead all DTs in sacks?

Coming from a Jets fan... Hilarious.

When my team finally cleans house and rids itself of the scrub coaching staff that has been in place for years you're damn right I'll be positive about the changes.

You can't honestly think that Detroit is a more disireable city than Nashville. Even if you haven't been to either city just use common sense and/or research.

There's more to a roster when picking a HC position.

Way to typecast a group of people . Plus most Jets fans I've encountered on blogs are half empty types. The city is pretty irrelevant. Roster, ownership, and money are the top 3 criteria. The million sealed the deal for the Titans. lol use common sense. That's rich.

Statistically, Casey had a great year. Best year of any DT? I'd say it's quite a fine line but there's a good argument.

No, I don't care about Pro Bowls either. Suh is obviously the name being the higher draft pick, and he's not perfect by a long shot. He's faster, can protect the run just as well as Casey (if not better) and pass rush (that's what I meant to say, thanks) considerably better due to his speed. If Suh isn't getting the sack, he'll get double or triple teamed opening it for Fairley/Ansah.

To only pour more salt in the wound, Titans will most likely snag Ray Horton.

Mel Kiper has released his first mock draft. His top 10 is:

1. Johnny Manziel-Texans
2. Jake Matthews-Rams
3. Jadaveon Clowney-Jags
4. Blake Bortles-Browns
5. Sammy Watkins-Raiders
6. Anthony Barr-Falcons
7. Khalil Mack-Bucs
8. Teddy Bridgewater-Vikings
9. Greg Robinson-Bills
10. Justin Gilbert-Lions

Obviously this is a very early draft and a lot will chance after the combine and workouts. Kiper said he's talked to a number of draft evaluators and Manziel is the one QB they are confident will go in the top 5.
