Obviously this is a very early draft and a lot will chance after the combine and workouts. Kiper said he's talked to a number of draft evaluators and Manziel is the one QB they are confident will go in the top 5.
Last thing Atlanta needs is another LB. That's like 5th on our needs.

Hey walruswarrior, if the Jags draft Bortles will you become a Jags fan?

I'd be shock if we don't draft a QB in the 1st Round. Henne is a free agent I believe and there's no future with Gabbert. We have more draft picks than anyone in the league this year. Aside from that we have a good amount of money to spend on free agency to get better defensive players to help out Paul Posluszny (who I believed should of represented the Jags in the Pro Bowl).

As for drafting Blake Bortles. I think this will help fill a lot of seats in Jacksonville. In Orlando, the Jaguars brand seems to be nonexistent. Only Jags fans I know are friends that used to attend UCF, and currently reside there now. I don't know if Bortles will fit the scheme with coach Bradley though.

No lol. But I would root for Bortles. I would hope that he goes to Jax before Cleveland . That would be horrible for him. He'd be pretty good in Minn as well. Playing with AP would certainly help him.

Did April Fools come early? This mock draft is probably the worst I've seen. It's badly out of touch with literally every other mock draft out there. He seems to be alone in thinking Manziel goes #1 and Bridgewater drops past #3.

I don't think anyone can say one or way what kind of coach Zac taylor is... did Tannenhill show improvement since coming into the league? I'd say so... But to say that he only got the job because he was Sherman's son-in-law is a tad silly, do you think Philbin would hire a coach based purely on nepotism? I'm sure a big reason is Sherman spoke highly of them and had a good working relationship with him. I think the OC has a big say on his assistants, I'm sure coach Lazor will have a big say if he want's to bring in new assistants. I do think Taylor and Turner will be gone, but the team is just keeping them around in case they want to retain them.

No. I agree with the Sammy Watkins pick for the Raiders. They're all about speed before anything else [see DHB].

The simple truth is mock drafts in January are worthless. Until they've studied tape and the combine/workouts teams have no idea who they are going to take, so a mock draft is just a guess. Last year at this time virtually every mock draft had Geno Smith going #1, and we know how that ended up. Still, it's fun to see guesses of who your team will take.

Terrible ownership and management with the Lions though... Always has been. I can't deny the Lions have a better roster, but I really think you're overlooking the NFC North/AFC South factor and the city.

Plus, the Lions are locked in with Stafford, whereas we are very much looking for a new QB. He may prefer to find a QB on his own (with the help of Webster), although I admit that scares me a bit because without Warner he failed to get a QB in place and failed hard with the Kolb trade. Not sure how much of those failures were on the GM though.

Stafford probably could've been great with Whiz... sucks for him he didn't come.

No, I don't care about Pro Bowls either. Suh is obviously the name being the higher draft pick, and he's not perfect by a long shot. He's faster, can protect the run just as well as Casey (if not better) and pass rush (that's what I meant to say, thanks) considerably better due to his speed. If Suh isn't getting the sack, he'll get double or triple teamed opening it for Fairley/Ansah.

To only pour more salt in the wound, Titans will most likely snag Ray Horton.
Statistics aside, he was constantly disrupting the backfield all season long. I just hate the fact that he missed out on the Pro Bowl. I don't watch the Pro Bowl (though I might check it out this year with the new format), but it is nice to see your team's players making it when they deserve it. I voted for Verner and Casey only... because they're the only players on our team that deserved it.

I'm a big Ray Horton fan (I had even wanted us to look at him as a possible HC) and I've wanted to see what our defense would look like in a 3-4... I think it would definitely help our LBs out, but I'm not sure how it would bode for Casey. And it would create a big need at NT.

If we were to switch to a 3-4 I'd like to hire Keith Butler instead. He's been the Steelers LB coach for a decade, working under Dick LeBeau. He's supposed to take over for LeBeau when he retires. Unfortunately, the Steelers probably won't release him from his contract and let him become our DC. Douches.

In what way is Lions ownership terrible? They stay out of the way and out of the spotlight and let the people they hire run the team. They give people time to succeed (maybe too long) and aren't quick to fire coaches. They have no problem spending money. You can criticize ownership for some of their hires and keeping Millen way too long, but overall I'd rather work for the Ford family than many NFL owners.

Matt Leinart is a complete bum and they've had success in Arizona after he's left, even in probably the toughest division in football. So I'm going to take his word at less than the full weight of an electron.

Silly is one of my middle names...

No seriously, I thought Jim Turner would be the first coach fired. I know players are the one giving up sacks, but since we'll probably have 4 new starters out of 5 on the O-line next year from the 2013 opening game, might as well start over with a new coach. I'm sure David Carr had nightmares watching us play this year...

I remember the early mock drafts in January last year were giving us Keenan Allen in the 1st round(#12) and was the #1 ranked WR. Then he fell to the 3rd round. Not sure if it's a good example though since he had such a good rookie season...

Pure speculation of course, but I think they might be hanging onto him to be the scapegoat for when the Well's investigation is released. If there was one coach would should have known of any issues it'd have been the position coach. I don't know if it'd be fair to point the finger only at Turner, as there were other factors, but it's a hard stat to ignore. I think he's more than likely gone.

Funny how everyone who's worked with Whisenhunt has nothing but great things to say about him (Warner, Fitzgerald, Cowher, Bettis, etc.) and the loser who's never won anything says he sucks. Hmm...

I think I prefer what the winners and current/future Hall Famers have to say. Matt Leinart is a chode.

As bad as Locker/Fitzpatrick are as a whole (Locker is actually not that bad; he's just never healthy), they're better than pretty much every QB he had on the Cardinals after Warner retired.

Whiz has had success everywhere he goes. He was the Steelers OC from 2004-2006... the rapist's first three seasons in the NFL (that's a big deal). Then he helps revive Kurt Warner's career and gets the ARIZONA CARDINALS to the Super Bowl. Then he turns the Chargers from the 31st ranked offense into the 5th ranked offense (and makes Rivers look great again) and had a very balanced approach with run/pass, although it looked pretty weak against the Broncos.

The big question for us will be... can Whiz find us a QB? Or can Locker miraculously stay healthy for 16 games? My nightmare is we will get off to a solid start again and Locker gets hurt on a non-contact play, Fitz comes in and we go 7-9 again.

Really hoping for Aaron Murray later in the draft... or hoping that one of the top QBs falls to #11, though I'm not really a fan of any of the projected first round guys.

I guess the secret is out on Mike Pettine. I was hoping to be able to hang onto to him for another year or two, but I fully expect him to really wow the Browns. He's a fantastic defensive coordinator.
