I'm most hyped for week 2 and 10
You forgot the best game of the year (defensively)

Week 9:
Ravens @ Steelers

Every year they get a prime time game, and every year it's epic.

This weekend is the first time in NFL history that there are no divisional matchups.

I have no idea how they pulled that off, bit of shocking info right there. Sounds like Derrick Dockery is going to start over Bill Nagy at LG this weekend, size might be the reason. 325 vs 303.

That's pretty odd. I also noticed that Jacksonville doesn't have a division game until 10/30/11 against Houston.

We play a divisional opponent twice in December for I believe the 5th year in a row, division could well come down to if we sweep the Giants or not. Still not ready to crown the Eagles yet.

The lack of division games has to do with the potential of losing games if the lockout lasted into the season. There also are no division games in week 4. In addition every matchup in week 3 features teams with the same bye weeks. Every team that is home in week 2 is on the road in week 4, so if the lockout had forced some games to be missed they could have canceled the week 2 and week 4 games completely, moved the week 3 games to the team's scheduled bye weeks, and rescheduled week 1 games to the end of the season. This would have allowed all the divisional games to be played and each team would have gotten an equal number of home and away games.

Pats/colts might get flexed out though.

Who wouldve ever imagined that a year ago.

From the sounds of it the Raiders shouldn't win their appeal that Janikowski's field goal should have been ruled a 64-yard kick. From the link:

Quote:
So how do they decide the measurement on a kick? The question is whether Raiders punter Shane Lechler placed the ball on the Raiders’ 47-yard line or on the Raiders’ 46-yard line when he held for Janikowski’s field goal. If it was between yard lines, they would round down.

Here’s the relevant excerpt from the NFL’s Guide for Statisticians: “Field goals shall be measured from the spot of the kick. Spot of the kick is dictated by the same principle as used in determining the line of scrimmage. Example: If any point of the football when kicked rests on or above any yard stripe, credit distance from that yard stripe. If all of the ball rests between yard stripes, credit distance from the yard line nearest the intended goal.”

By that standard, the Raiders should not win this appeal: The ball was held between the 46 and 47 when it was kicked. Slate points out that Janikowski’s kick was longer than either Elam’s or Dempsey’s, but not a full yard longer. Janikowski’s kick will stay 63 yards.

It was a dumb appeal anyways... Only an Al Davis run team would even think about doing something so idiotic

Titans play-by-play voice Mike Keith said Thursday that Chris Johnson has been cleared to handle "as many carries as possible" this week against the Ravens.
"Don't be surprised if he handles it 25 to 30 times against the Ravens," Keith said. Coach Mike Munchak stated as much Wednesday, suggesting Johnson could touch the ball 25 times as the Titans attempt to do what the Jags did to them last week. As Rotoworld's Evan Silva points out, CJ2K will be a prime buy-low candidate even if he disappoints again versus the Ravens. The Titans play the Broncos and Browns in Weeks 3 and 4.

true, hopefully they flex like this

week 3 Packers vs Bears or Texans vs Saints instead of Steelers vs Colts
week 7 Falcons vs Lions(if Stafford still has a shoulder) or Chargers vs Jets instead of Colts vs Saints
week 13 Falcons vs Texans instead of Patriots vs Colts

Falcons vs Lions yes please!...

Good news is near the end of the season potentially Lions vs Bears or Lions vs Packers could be moved to Sunday night which if these teams are all fighting for first could be well worth it.

Flex scheduling doesn't begin until week 11 so the first 2 Sunday night games can't change. Even if the Colts are out of playoff contention there's no guarantee that the Patriots-Colts game would be flexed out because the Patriots get very good ratings and even if the Colts are like 3-9 they still might keep the game if the Patriots have a very good record.

Knowshon Moreno (hamstring) was held out of practice again on Friday, putting his status for Week 2 in doubt.
The Denver Post's Mike Klis advises fantasy leaguers to get Willis McGahee into lineups against the Bengals this week. McGahee hasn't carried the ball more than 20 times since 2008, so the Broncos figure to mix in Lance Ball as well. Still, OC Mike McCoy stated this week that McGahee can "without a doubt" handle a heavy workload.

Texans coach Gary Kubiak backed off his early-week comments by saying Friday that Arian Foster (hamstring) won't get a normal snap count in Week 2.
Kubiak insisted that Ben Tate "is definitely going to play." Of Foster, Kubiak added, "He looks ready to play. He's had a good week. I think he'll be fine." The Texans now appear likely to use a committee backfield against the Dolphins, attempting to limit Foster's touches and snaps in an effort to avoid the possibility of a setback. We would still expect Foster to start the game, despite speculation otherwise from ESPN's John Clayton. You just have to consider Foster more of a risky RB2 than a locked-in RB1.

On Tony Romo’s performance against the Jets:

I know a lot of people who watched the game, and even Tony himself, felt really good about the way he’d played. And then he just made a couple of mistakes. That happens. I think when it happens for a quarterback, you just move on and get ready for the next game. I think the reaction by everybody, considering it was just the first game of the season, I don’t want to say was surprising, but there’s always an overreaction – both good and bad – around the league. As a quarterback, you kind of learn to deal with that.

On the pressure Romo faces by playing in the shadow of Troy Aikman and Roger Staubach:

I was removed a few quarterbacks [from Staubach], so that really helped. When I came to the team, the team had been bad for a period of time, it hadn’t been to a playoff game in 12 years or more. And so when we began to win, the fans were really excited. And when we began to win, we won Super Bowls right away. That made things a heck of a lot easier for me and a lot of other players. Whereas for Tony, the team had been struggling since we won our Super Bowls, since ’96 essentially. The team had been struggling for a while, and then Tony took over as the quarterback…And then immediately, the expectations got elevated because of his play at quarterback.

Here’s the problem I have with the way people react to Tony: Tony’s the reason why the expectations are what they are. And if it weren’t for him, there would be no expectations. Yet when he plays great through three and a half quarters, the reason they’re in the game or leading the game is because Tony’s playing really great. And then you have a bad play that hurts your team, and they act like he’s the reason they lost. They don’t remember, “No, he’s the reason we were beating the team that we really had no expectations of beating.” But that’s life as a quarterback in the NFL.
