12 absurd Super Bowl prop bets that can win you real money

Quote:
How many times will Peyton Manning say "Omaha"? (Over/under 27.5)

Will the stadium's power go out during the game? (20/1 against)

Will Knowshon Moreno cry during the singing of the national anthem? (No favored at -250)

Post game: Instead of trash talking Sherman will make a mad dash for the locker room

Well, that's why I toned it down - I originally posted that Sherman "would whine like a little girl", and decided that was too strong. I only singled Sherman out because he's a brash, loud talking member of a team I don't like and will enjoy seeing my long time favorite team put in their place. But Richard Sherman is no 'thug', he's a very smart guy, a graduate of Standford University, one of the top universities in the country. He made a great play that sent his team to the Superbowl instead of home for the season, and got carried away in the heat of the moment.

Yeah, there is nothing 'thug' about Sherman. He likes to talk, but that is part of him game. He is by all accounts a very intelligent man, and a stand up citizen.

If you're saying those teams have no Superbowl wins, Miami has 2 Superbowl wins including the 1972 Dolphins, the only NFL team to ever win a Superbowl in a perfect season. The 2007 Patriots are the only other NFL team to play in a Superbowl with a perfect season, but Peyton's little brother Eli put an end to that. The look on Belichick's face as he walked off the field with time still on the clock was worth the AFC loss.

I'm an AFC guy, and might agree that half the freaking AFC are shitty teams. (Well, usually an AFC guy; last year I was rooting for the Niners - Revenge! ) But overall the AFC has won 22 Superbowls to the NFC's 25. And in the current millennium, the AFC has won 8 to the NFC's 6. Soon to be 9 to 6.

Not sure why I thought Miami had 0, maybe I have Dan Marino on the brain or something but no football fan can argue against the fact that the NFC is ridiculously stacked and the AFC is quite top-heavy right now.

OK, I'll bite and argue against that.

That used to be the case - the NFC absolutely dominated in the 1980s & 90s, with 13 consecutive Super Bowl wins 1985-1997, including 3 blowout losses by the Broncos and 4 consecutive blowout embarrassing losses by the Buffalo Bills - weak teams won the AFC only to get blown out in the big game by the NFC. But since then the NFC and AFC pretty much have parity. Looking at the 2013 season standings at Yahoo Sports, the NFC has 7 teams with a winning season and the AFC has 6. The NFC has 9 teams with tied or losing seasons to the AFC's 10. The 6 worst teams are AFC Houston 2-14, NFC Washington 3-13, AFC Oakland & Cleveland 4-12, and NFC Atlanta & Tampa 4-12.

Looks pretty close to parity to me.

Yes but you can also say that the AFC has Denver and no one else. The NFC has Seattle, SF, NO, and Carolina. Also throw in the fact that at 11-5 the Cardinals would have easily made the playoffs if they had been in the AFC. The top of the NFC is worlds better than the AFC.

Are you talking about Richard Sherman? The same guy who finished with the 2nd best GPA in his high school graduation class, then graduated early from Stanford and returned another year to work on his Master's degree while still playing football? Guess the definition of thug isn't what it used to be. I doubt his 15 minutes of fame are anywhere close to being over either given he's only 25 and probably the best at his position in the game.

Indianapolis not only beat both Seattle and SF, but also defeated the Broncos. New England beat NO and Denver in the regular season, and Indianapolis in the playoffs. KC Chiefs beat Philly, Dallas & NY Giants. San Diego beat Philly, Dallas, Giants, KC & Denver in the regular season, and had me sweating in the playoffs in Denver. Plenty of good teams in the AFC besides Denver.
