Not just that but he got a good set of wideouts, decent line play, and almost as much stability as one could ask for.... Granted he dealt with the BF situation but still.

Yeah, that's one of the great unknowns. Tom Brady has said he doesn't think he would have succeeded if he had been a high pick because of the high expectations. By the time he became a starter the Patriots were coming off a 5-11 season and were already 0-2 so there were low expectations for him.

David Carr is another quarterback I've always wondered about. He played behind one of the worst offensive lines in history and was sacked 76 times as a rookie, a record that still stands. It seems like he became afraid of getting hit after that season and lost some of his competitive fire and eventually become content being a backup. Maybe if he played behind even a average offensive line his career could have been totally different.

Yup I remember season 1 he was like patting guys that sacked him, then they had one game where he was like flinching when someone got close... THIS IS WHY I ADVOCATE PEOPLE GETTING TIME TO GROW!

Even if he was behind a good line. He still would have sucked

Did Matt Millen come back to the Lions? Trading up for Watkins? You are going to put that much $$ into 3 WRs in the long run... very smart

Nahhh nobody knows that lol

All anyone needs to do is watch Payton Colts playoff games where he was throwing 40+ touchdowns and then looked like a scrub getting pressure, or Tom Brady in the undefeated run and getting harassed by that giants front...

Too many examples of some of the greatest qbs ever looking avg. or below avg when line play deteriorates either due to off day or just good defense.

Combine both and a young guy trying to develop doesn't have much of a chance especially if those problems linger for the length of his career.

Giving Golden Tate that much money was a mistake. He's barely a serviceable #2. If they draft Watkins, that makes Tate very expendable in 2015.

The NFL released the preseason schedule today, if anyone cares about that kind of thing. The NFL should be releasing the regular season sometime in the next couple of weeks, as their spokesman has said they still plan on releasing it sometime in mid-April despite the draft being moved back.
