Jimmy should've been aiming for highest paid TE.

I will be very shocked if the Saints don't reach a deal with Graham to make him the highest-paid tight end in the league. It likely won't happen until right before the July 15 deadline, but it will happen. I just can't imagine the Saints want to risk a holdout from Graham and having to go through this again next offseason.

Quote:
Dolphins defensive end Dion Jordan, the No. 3 overall draft pick in 2013, has been suspended for the first four games of the 2014 season because he violated the league's performance enhancing drugs policy, the team announced Thursday afternoon.

“I recently learned from the NFL that I tested positive for stimulants that are banned under the NFL policy," Jordan said in a statement. "I worked carefully with my advisors and the union to investigate the test results, and I take full responsibility for the test results. I'm very sorry for the impact of this situation on my teammates, coaches, Stephen Ross, the entire Dolphins organization, fans and my family as well. I will continue to work extremely hard during training camp and preseason. During the suspension, I will stay in top shape and will be ready to contribute upon my return.”

Jordan had a disappointing rookie season in 2013, playing all 16 games but starting zero and recording only two sacks. According to the Pro Football Focus metrics, Jordan ranked No. 22 among the 52 defensive ends who play in a 4-3 scheme.

In February, CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reported that the Dolphins were gauging interest in trying to trade Jordan. But it was thought that Jordan's guaranteed rookie contract of four years and $20.5 million was too much for other teams to take on.

But this offseason, Dolphins coach Joe Philbin said Jordan was playing faster because he's "doing less thinking."

“We were disappointed to learn about Dion's suspension," Philbin said in a statement. "Dion has accepted responsibility for his actions and is committed to improving, both on and off the field, in preparation for the upcoming year.”

Jordan can participate in the offseason and preseason practices and games. He's eligible to return to the roster on Monday, Sept. 29.

It's a shame he hasn't gotten help. He's one of the most talented receivers in the league but at this point his career is likely done. His family should have gotten him in rehab after he got kicked out of Baylor.

Guy had 498 yards through 2 games. So much potential.

Arrest yes. But he's failed several drug tests. I know weed and codeine aren't serious drugs but this guy just keeps making stupid decisions.

Not debating that, but saying that he's been arrested again is inaccurate. This is actually the first time he's been in trouble with anybody other than the team/league he plays for.

All athletes take supplements. He is trying to spin it that he was unaware, which of course he would even if he was knowinlgy cheating. But since is his first offense, like most players I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. He was taking it to become a better player. They don't comment on it, so you never really knew what suypplement they were taking.

As a NFL player Smoking weed, and taking other recreational drugs, drving drunk is just plain stupid. Most players careers are short, and to jeopardize their high salaries to get high is worse than trying to get better. They won't ever have the earning potential that players have, so they should be careful and maximize setting themselves up for life after football.

I have nothing against smoking weed, I do it on rare occasion. I have no porblem if it gets leagalized, but currrently in the NFL it is a banned substance. But if my job and career depended on me NOT smoking I'd pass.

The NFL has a service where they will pick your drunk ass up and take you home. It is anonymous, so your team will never know about it (supposedly). There is absolutely no excuse for it.

As for supplements, stimulants, fertility drugs, etc.:

Why aren't there league sponsored/supported/trained doctors that know what substances will get you in trouble and what is safe? And if that doctor gives the player something that gets them in trouble, it should be the doctor's job on the line, not the player.

I've wondered that for a long time. It seems like there are many cases where doctors give drugs to players and tell them it isn't against the rules when it clearly is. The doctors associated with teams should be held more responsible. Blaming players for unknowingly taking a banned substance his doctor gives him is silly. That's like expecting someone to represent himself at a trial as opposed to a qualified lawyer. An NFL player isn't a doctor or a lawyer.

The NFL has a phone number that a player can call and say the name of the drug they've been prescribed or the supplement they're taking and find out whether it contains any banned substances. If it does contain a banned substance they can try and get a therapeutic exemption that will allow them to take the drug. A player should never take a prescription drug or supplement without calling that number regardless of what their doctor may say about the legality of the drug.
