I have the option to go the game tonight but I think I'll just watch from home. Bortles is expected to play the 2nd and possibly into the 3rd quarter. So far the coaching staff are impressed....we'll see.

The 49ers better do something quick to shore up their backup quarterback spot. You can't have Blaine Gabbert as your backup, especially with a quarterback like Kaep who takes a lot of hits. Gabbert was absolutely awful last night and showed he shouldn't be in the league anymore, much less as the backup for a legit Super Bowl contender. If I'm the 49ers GM I'm on the phone today trying to get Kyle Orton or Rex Grossman to join the team.

Tell me about it. I supported him 1-2 years backed him up but it's proven that he doesn't have the talent in the NFL. Glad we got a draft pick to get rid of him.

Kaep didn't a lot of hits last year compared to other QBs. But yea not thrilled with Gabbert as a backup.

I never understood the Gabbert hype from the start. He never impressed me at Missouri. He never showed anything that made me think he was worth a pick in the first three rounds.

Yet he was once hyped up as the #1 overall pick. I was not happy with the Locker pick, but I sure as hell glad we didn't take Gabbert, at least. I remember all the "experts" being surprise he fell so far, and they all thought we'd take him for sure. When they called Locker's name, they cut over to Gabbert's table. His face was priceless.

Todd McShay said we had the most questionable draft pick by passing up on Gabbert for Locker. No, idiot. We had the most questionable draft pick because we did not take Robert Quinn like I wanted us to.

Steelers player Maurkice Pouuncey is expected to be charged with misdemeanor battery today.

http://www.miamiherald.com/2014/08/0...e-pouncey.html

Quote:
Are authorities on the verge of charging Maurkice Pouncey for his alleged role in a South Beach nightclub brawl?

Yes – and that charge could come as soon as Friday, according to the attorney for the victims, who says he was briefed in recent days by Miami Beach police about their intentions.

Personal injury attorney Marwan Porter said police have indicated that Pouncey, a center for the Pittsburgh Steelers, will be charged with misdemeanor battery.

Dolphins lineman Mike Pouncey, who was with his twin brother at Cameo nightclub the morning of July 12, will apparently not be charged in the incident.

Even with all the bad stuff, they are still one of the best teams in the league. (and I'm not even a 49er fan)

p.s. I think I might have been using the word "iffy" wrong my whole life. I wish my wrs were this "iffy"

Watt would've been the best pick because we would have him and the Texans would not... so yep. That would've been nice. But I don't think he would've been nearly as good with us. Texans had a better and more experienced coaching staff. Jerry Gray sucks so bad that Watt would probably be a nobody with us.

My top 3 for us at #8 were:
1. Quinn
2. Fairley
3. Watt

Admittedly, Fairley wouldn't have been a great pick, but the important thing is that I had Quinn at the top. Our FO continues to fail to realize that DL has been and will be a massive need until we address it early. I like our depth from a rotational standpoint, but aside from Casey (who may not even fit our new 3-4 that well), we don't have a dominant guy on the DL or front 7 for that matter. I really do like our rotation though. We're gonna keep a lot of guys fresh throughout our games.

And yea, Wilkerson was a steal where you guys got him.

I hate the Steelers so much, and I admit I laughed hard when DeCastro tore Pouncey's ACL against us week 1 last year. It was just hilarious watching DeCastro take out his own guy. It looked so intentional.

Yes, I'm sick like that. I know.

F*CK that punk and his twin brother. They can EAD.

Im sorry what are you *****ing about with your FO drafting bad? The Lions took what at number 10 this year despite Denard and other CB sitting out there for the picking... yeah please

As a whole, I'm actually pleased with the way we've drafted from 2011-present. I like our GM, but he's definitely done some questionable stuff.

You could say the same for the Titans at #11 this year... My top picks for us prior to the draft were Barr, Bridgewater, Dennard, Gilbert... two were still available when we were on the clock, and I was convinced we were going to take Teddy.

Screamed at the TV when we took Lewan... I've warmed up to the pick, but I feel like we've invested way too much in our OL and ignored drafting playmakers.

Lewan is a great pick for you hes going to come in as a backup and provide depth before moving to starting LT provided he dont goto jail lol. But look at what we took knowing we needed defense we took a ****ing tight end yet again in the 1st round. I swear to god matt millen is still in our draft room.
