Bortles finishes the preseason going 32/51 for 521 yards and 2 TD's and 0 INT's. The minute Henne doesn't perform, I think the Bortles era will begin sooner rather than next year. I'm excited!

OUCH Watkins....

Quote:

Sammy Watkins was forced from Thursday's preseason finale with a rib injury.

Watkins is technically questionable, but obviously won't return. Watkins got hurt trying to corral a slant that was "a good yard and a half ahead of him." E.J. Manuel "stared him down the whole way." Watkins then headed to the locker room. It's unclear if Watkins aggravated his previous rib issue, or suffered a new injury. It's ominous all around. Watkins hasn't shown outside of practice this summer, while Manuel has looked like one of the worst quarterbacks in the NFL.

I know we wanted to get him game reps with EJ, but neither should have played tonight. It's just too risky this close to the regular season. Thank God it doesn't appear to be serious, but rib injuries are notorious for taking a long time to heal.

LOL because your QB sucks so much you had to risk your number 1 WR health to try to get him reps really lol... hate to break it to you man but if he reinjured those ribs that's now5 weeks into the season hes going to have issues. Had they let him heal he MIGHT have been having issues for maybe 2-3 weeks into the season.

I can understand the reasoning behind it. Watkins and Manuel have had very limited game reps. I have full confidence that Watkins will be a 100% go for the Chicago game.

Bortles and now Carr...

Quote:
Working as the starter, Derek Carr completed 11-of-13 passes for 143 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in Thursday's preseason finale against the Seahawks.
Carr stood tall in the pocket, threw darts all over the field and led the Raiders on four straight touchdown drives against the defending Super Bowl champs. In other words, he was the anti-Matt Schaub (elbow, day to day). In three preseason outings, Carr is 30-of-45 (66.6%) for 326 yards with four touchdowns and one interception. To steal a quote from Joe Theismann, if this were a competition, there wouldn't be a competition. The Raiders must realize that Carr, not Schaub, gives them the best chance to win football games.
I don't care that it was against the backups. 2nd stringers vs 2nd stringers still means something.

Bortles makes me a supporter of the Jags. Never want to see him beat the Jets, but I hope he knocks the stuffing out of everyone else.

That's what everyone is saying. Don't want to get caught up in the hype just yet but I like this guy.

At least I have something to say at work to those that were like WTF, we drafted Bortles over Manziel? Same group of people who wanted Tebow sooo bad and wanted to draft Manziel. I knew we were gonna draft Blake this year because Gus Bradley constantly talked about him during the offseason, no one believed me. All they wanted was Johnny Football.

Also looking forward to our defense as well. Paul Posluszny has lots of help up front!

People like to compare him to Big Ben. I don't see that, yet. Obviously he hasn't played to his full potential but when he's out there. He's managed the offense very well. Sure he had some passes that should of been picked up but you expect that from any young NFL QB. I am very pleased that Jedd Fisch our OC is letting Bortles change plays on the fly, something you don't see these days from a rookie.

Andrew Luck was an NFL ready QB out of college, Bortles showed a lot of people he's ready. It's hard to say until he's given the starting job. I know for a fact he's not the next Gabbert.

Carr should start right away, can't be worse then mr pick six. He's only rookie qb I have no doubt is better than the starter.

Definitely agree there. Bortles will be excellent for the Franchise. I hope he is named the starter this year, I think the guy has earned it from everything that I have seen.

I completely agree. Carr > Schaub.

Schaub's starting days are most likely over. I'd let the rookie play.
