Is violence against women worse than violence against men? If so... why?

There certainly seems to be a double standard. Violence against any human being is wrong, regardless of gender. Yet spousal abuse involving the male being the victim doesn't get this kind of attention.

What you missed last night because the NFL pulled Rihanna and "Run This Town" from their 9/11 football show (Don't worry Rihanna, the NBA would probably like to have you - Except maybe in Atlanta...)

Filmed in Ferguson, Mo.??

If the league gave up their non-profit designation it would hardly make a difference, the league would still dole out the profits to the owner and pay virtually no tax. If being a non-profit made a big difference MLB wouldn't have voluntarily given up their non-profit status in 2007 and the NBA would have changed their structure to become a non-profit.

Which is vastly different then a corporation which gets taxed 2x, 1x on the initial profits and then a 2nd time on the dividends payed to its shareholders. If the NFL was listed as a corporation like it should be, it would have to pay taxes at the end of the league year on its profits, and then taxes again when it distributed those profits to its owners. We can argue this until we are blue in the face, I was simply correcting someone on saying the NFL was a corporation was all =0)

On another note

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the NFLPA has scheduled a Friday afternoon vote on a new drug policy.

The NFLPA isn't expected to vote on a proposal it doesn't intend to approve. Per Rapsheet, players currently serving suspensions for positive amphetamine tests — such as Wes Welker, Orlando Scandrick and Dion Jordan — would be immediately reinstated. It's unclear if that would take effect for Week 2 or Week 3, but it's likely Week 2. Josh Gordon's situation is more complicated. It's believed he would still be banned somewhere in the 6-10 game range, but he would be back in 2014.

Sorry, not buying into any of this Goodell hate. Like I said I'll wait for the investigation to run its course.
The "investigation"? This investigation is being overseen by a couple selected NFL owners with a vested interest in Goodell not being found of any wrongdoing.

It's not "worse", it's just that the rate of women suffering domectic violence is several times higher than men. In most categories of domestic violence women suffer at roughly 3x to 4x or more than the rate of men. When it comes to the worst sexual violence categories women are more than 10x as likely as men to have suffered. Sorry, but that's a huge difference.

Heading to Minnesota tomorrow for Sunday's Vikings-Patriots game. Looks like the weather will be good with a high of 68 and only a 10% chance of rain. Tickets look great, 8th row between the 30 and 40 behind the Patriots bench. It's been years since I've been to an NFL game so I'm pretty excited.

That's great! I would love to go to that game (but I'd be cheering for the home team). Both teams had a surprising game last week, so it should be interesting. Have a good time

[Show spoiler]p.s. Thanks for trying to change the subject. The Ray Rice thread...I mean the NFL thread has become a place to avoid instead of a fun place to talk football. Can't wait until this is over.

Expecting panic mode to strike in Dallas if we drop to the Titans as well, at 0-2 with no play-offs since 2009 even Jerry will have to worry despite his perpetual drunken stupor.

When a new drug policy is approved as early as this afternoon, Josh Gordon's suspension expected to be reduced to 8 games, per source.
I've got Gordon on one of my teams but am not sure if I can afford devoting one of my five bench spots to a player that won't play for the next seven weeks, especially once teams start having byes.

How many men actually report being physically abused by their wives? I have heard that many in law enforcement believe one of the most unreported crimes is domestic abuse where the male is the victim.

The Titans D looked good last week, Locker is a much better QB this year, and there are a lot of problems in Dallas. I don't want to rag on them too much, the rest of the world does that for me. But I think it might be a long year.

Longer year for the homers than me, haven't really expected the Cowboys to do anything resembling decent since 2011.

Fate it might be ok as if his ban is reduced to 8 weeks in 2 of my leagues hes just depth, this week will be week 2 hes on my bench, and I have him in 2 leagues. They are still reporting it might be overturned completely which if that's the case tee hehe oMG that would be epic for my fantasy teams

Locker has always looked good, but he tends to get injured.

Well take off the tin foil hat. It's just an institution investigating itself. I'm sure it's totally legit with no chance of anything shady going on.

You must live in a world where nothing ever shady occurs, and we should all take everything at face value because no one lies to protect themselves. Do you have a plane ticket to this magical land? Is it the Island of Dr. Denial
