Nope, I live in the world where I let investigations run their course, and find their answers. I also live in the world where people, based on their reputations, are taken at face value. IMO, Roger Goodell has a pretty sterling reputation. Has he commited some crime, that I'm not aware of?
Would it please the Goodell Witch Hunters if God came down and performed the investigation?
Sorry I'm not on the "Goodell needs to resign or be fired" bandwagon...but clearly, that's just me.

I was dedicating one of mine for 16 games (keeper league), so 8 games is just that much better

Yup. Their biggest problem was discussed on PTI yesterday. If they don't find anything, nobody will believe it. If they find something minor, everybody will think it's just the tip of the iceberg. The only way this possibly goes smoothly is if they come out and say the league has known everything for months.

Actually another possibility exists:

The investigation concludes, finds no wrong doing, and life goes on.

Of course the Witch Hunters will be out if full force, but like many other Witch Hunts, I suspect it will fizzle out.

How about his moral stance on Bountygate, but Rice gets 2 games for this? His burial of the Spygate scandal? Sure there is no history there whatsoever.....

NOTHING drives Roger Goodell's decisions but blind greed, he doesn't care about anything else but marketing the shield, morals and ethics be damned.

Trust me when I say this investigation will never be believed if it finds nothing. This isn't an "independent" investigation. It's being run by the law firm that the NFL currently uses heavily and which is the former employee of many people within the NFL.

It's similar to when MLB hired George Mitchell. He found a lot, but no Red Sox players were named. Curiously enough, he was a director for the team.

Imagine if instead of getting an independent investigator like George Mitchell, MLB had hired Barry Bonds to look into steroid accusations.
Alex Rodriguez and Sammy Sosa!

Had to edit it, because I forgot about Mitchell's Red Sox connections. Making it a good example of why "independent" means nothing to do with the league, not someone with a stake in the outcome.

Apples and oranges, quite honestly.
Let's see bountygate happened right in the midst of the mammoth concussion lawsuit being levied at the NFL. Goodell sent a clear message that targeting someone to injure was not going to fly in today's NFL. The message was meant to be strong and felt all over the league. Which it was. I appluad Goodell for his action, as what happened inside the Saints locker room was deplorable.
As for Rice getting 2 games, again, until I hear otherwise I don't see why Goodell/the NFL would even want to say they only saw a partial video. As I just got finished saying, and as everyone know, Goodell intends to throw the book at wrongdoers. Why would he relent with Ray Rice? Obvious answer: he wouldn't. I'll just wait for the investigation to conclude and hear about the findings.
Burial of the Spygate scandel? He destroyed all the evidence. So what? Did you want it sent to the NFL HoF? On what grounds does Goodell need to show all this evidence? New England sure didn't offer up much of a fight, and took their spanking(oddly enough have never won a Superbowl since). So, fail to see the problem.

I think it's become clear that there are certain people here that just don't like Roger Goodell. That's fine, you are certainly entitled to your opinion. Just like I am. IMO, Goodell has done quite a bit for the league, while having to deal with so much. Through it all he's generated record breaking revenue by making the NFL an even better product. Owners certainly like that, as it's more money in their pocket.

Has Goodell been a hardass? Hell yes. Is the NFL better for it? Most definitely. Revenue, attendance, merchandise, player safety/conduct all attest to this.

As I said, God could come down and run this investigation...and it still wouldn't be enough for some folks.

And Goodell could call himself an "independent investigator", say nothing happened, and some people would be all over letting the NFL off the hook.

These things work both ways.

That's good since it means you'll have to drop someone else.

This is the last thing the NFL needs right now:

Quote:
Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has reportedly been indicted in Houston.

Fox 26 in Houston reports that Peterson was indicted in Montgomery County for reckless or negligent injury to a child.

Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reports that Peterson will now have to turn himself in to Texas authorities, which makes his status for Sunday’s game against the Patriots unclear.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports Josh Gordon will be suspended ten games under the terms of the NFL's new drug policy.
It's two more games than expected, but at least Gordon will be available, technically, in Weeks 12-17 for the Browns. That assumes he makes no mistakes during the ten-game ban, and no more games are tacked on for his offseason DUI arrest. We suspect fantasy owners will have a tough time hanging onto Gordon as bye-week crunches set in, but it's certainly worth trying in 12- and 14-team leagues. Gordon was already suspended for Week 1, and the Browns' bye is in Week 4, so the projected return date is Week 12. Asked Friday whether he thinks Gordon will rejoin the Browns at any point this year, coach Mike Pettine responded "I'll believe it when I see it."

That's good news. Not great, but better than a year or more.
