Or you could do like many others done before (read about it in other sports forum) go to the game without tickets, wait for the game to start then scalpers around there will be desperate you might score tickets for as low as $800.

The pregame trash talk is really funny.

"Your team cheats."

"Your team cheats more."

Greatest line ever:

REPORTER: Are you a cheater?
BRADY: I don't believe so

If that's not the textbook definition of confidence, I don't know what is!

It's probably because the matchup is so good. The spread is as tight as any Super Bowl in history and you have Brady going for a 4th Super Bowl and Seattle going for back to back.

And I'd say at least part of it is the AFC championship controversy. The old saying "all publicity is good publicity" is correct to a good extent. Say what you will about the whole mess there's no denying that even casual fans are following the Super Bowl coverage due to this.

It was uncharacteristic. I expected Brady to be his usual calm, collected self for that interview. He was nothing of the sort. Though it could just be that he was annoyed over the massive media coverage devoted to the AFC title game controversy rather than the Super Bowl.

That's not cheating. That's just smart. Belichick and Brady are definitely lying though, and that definitely makes things worse. It's just such a non-issue to me, personally. This is just a Super Bowl storyline.

Again, if the NFL is so upset about it, they should change the way balls are supplied.
This is such a big issue that the fine for this infraction is 25K min or 5k more than what Marshawn Lynch is being fined for a crotch grab.

25K is what the league thought of the issue prior to deflategate.

That's a good point. But aren't Santa Clara & Houston warm, even in February? I've never been, I just assume everywhere is nicer than here

Is there any historical evidence that outdoor temperature plays any role in ticket prices? Except for last year's New Jersey game they're all played in doors anyway. And last year it was parking and mass transit problems that plauged the Super Bowl, not weather.

Official statement from the NFL regarding "DeflateGate" (I feel stupid just typing that word ) Spoiler Alert: it has a lot of lawyer speak, but no new information

Quote:
“Our office has been conducting an investigation as to whether the footballs used in last Sunday’s AFC Championship Game complied with the specifications that are set forth in the playing rules. The investigation began based on information that suggested that the game balls used by the New England Patriots were not properly inflated to levels required by the playing rules, specifically Playing Rule 2, Section 1, which requires that the ball be inflated to between 12.5 and 13.5 pounds per square inch. Prior to the game, the game officials inspect the footballs to be used by each team and confirm that this standard is satisfied, which was done before last Sunday’s game.

“The investigation is being led jointly by NFL Executive Vice President Jeff Pash and Ted Wells of the law firm of Paul Weiss. Mr. Wells and his firm bring additional expertise and a valuable independent perspective. The investigation began promptly on Sunday night. Over the past several days, nearly 40 interviews have been conducted, including of Patriots personnel, game officials, and third parties with relevant information and expertise. We have obtained and are continuing to obtain additional information, including video and other electronic information and physical evidence. We have retained Renaissance Associates, an investigatory firm with sophisticated forensic expertise to assist in reviewing electronic and video information.

“The playing rules are intended to protect the fairness and integrity of our games. We take seriously claims that those rules have been violated and will fully investigate this matter without compromise or delay. The investigation is ongoing, will be thorough and objective, and is being pursued expeditiously. In the coming days, we expect to conduct numerous additional interviews, examine video and other forensic evidence, as well as relevant physical evidence. While the evidence thus far supports the conclusion that footballs that were under-inflated were used by the Patriots in the first half, the footballs were properly inflated for the second half and confirmed at the conclusion of the game to have remained properly inflated. The goals of the investigation will be to determine the explanation for why footballs used in the game were not in compliance with the playing rules and specifically whether any noncompliance was the result of deliberate action. We have not made any judgments on these points and will not do so until we have concluded our investigation and considered all of the relevant evidence.

“Upon being advised of the investigation, the Patriots promptly pledged their full cooperation and have made their personnel and other information available to us upon request. Our investigation will seek information from any and all relevant sources and we expect full cooperation from other clubs as well. As we develop more information and are in a position to reach conclusions, we will share them publicly.”

So Trent Richardson's "serious family emergency" may not have been an emergency at all (surprise, surprise). The Colts GM confirmed he was suspended for 2 games: the AFC Championship, and Week 1 2015, in the unlikely case he's on the Colts roster.

Here's how I see the scenario unfolding:
Dropped in the offseason
Picked up on a 1-year contract to be a backup
Plays in a couple preseason games before being dropped again

It's sad for someone who I thought had a bright future after his first year. I guess I was way off about him.

Isn't his 2015 season fully guaranteed by the Colts? I still can't believe Indy gave up a 1st round pick for that guy. Even back when the deal happened everyone knew it was a horrible trade for the Colts.

Yes, but there's a chance his suspension could lead to his contract being voided.

I'm sure the Colts will try and get the guarantee voided, but I'm not aware of any past instances where team discipline was enough to void guaranteed money. Contracts usually contain language that if a player is suspended it can lead to guaranteed money being voided, but the only times I've seen that happen are when a player is suspended by the league, usually for breaking the law or violating the drug policy. The Colts really don't have much to lose though, especially since they'll probably release Richardson no matter what.

Another hilarious frivilous sports fan lawsuit. The 'Sovereign Republic of Texas' has not even existed since 1846.

http://deadspin.com/imprisoned-cowbo...ing-1681357642

Quote:
Imprisoned Cowboys Fan Sues NFL For $89B For Reversing Dez Bryant Catch

Terry Hendrix, currently incarcerated in Colorado and a serial filer of frivolous lawsuits, has finally struck upon a real injustice. He's suing the NFL for nearly $89 billion for the officiating decision to overturn Dez Bryant's reception in the Cowboys' playoff loss to the Packers.

Hendrix's handwritten filing is "on behalf of Dez Bryant #88, all Dallas Cowboys fans, and all people in or from the Sovereign Republic of Texas." It names as defendants the NFL, Roger Goodell, referee Gene Steratore, and head of officiating Dean Blandino, and accuses them of "fraud, theft and gross stupidity in the face of an undeniable catch."

The suit goes on to predict what would have happened had Bryant's reception stood:

"The Cowboys' offensive line would have perfectly created an 'Autobahn' for DeMarco Murray to drive into the endzone for the score and victory."

He's seeking a very specific $88,987,654,321.88
.

We really need to enact some sort of "eye for an eye" law, to halt all these dumb lawsuits that just bog down the legal system. Sure you can sue anybody for whatever you want...but if you lose, then you pay what you were suing for. If you've got absolutely nothing to lose, like this inmate, why wouldn't you sue anyone & everyone!

So is he up there among the biggest/fastest draft busts taken in the first three picks?

Ryan Leaf, JaMarcus Russell, Akili Smith, Ki-Jana Carter, Charles Rodgers, Heath Shuler...
