Kinda glad. We have so many holes to patch up in Oakland that we could probably spend that money on a bunch of dudes vs just Suh and the scraps we'd have to settle with. Julius Thomas would be a nice start.
Are teams allowed to make contracts contingent on behavior? If I were Detroit I'd try to put in stipulations that would make any new contract with Suh dependent on personal conduct on the field. The guy is a great player, but his stupid cheap shots and dirty play often cost the Lions. He almost missed a huge playoff game because of his conduct.

There are reports that say the Seahawks are going to give Marshawn Lynch a contract extension, then the articles always have to mention it's a surprise because of all the talk early in the season about Lynch being released to save cap space. However, the only people who were talking about Lynch being released have been the media.

That would be like me saying 10,000 times that the Bengals are going to trade Andy Dalton, then when they give him an extension I say that's a surprise because of all the trade talk rumors (which I created).

Lions are taking a huge gamble if they pick Suh over Megatron.

Cheating is cheating, right?
Falcons fans are very fair weathered..big time. They need all the help they can get with noise.

Tom Brady can get to the end, but can't close the deal. The Patriots haven't won the Super Bowl in TEN years while The Seahawks DESTROYED the Broncos last year! My money is on The Seahawks to repeat victory!

The guy is going to be 29 in April. By typical RB standards he's nearing the end of his career. Unless he restructures and takes a pay cut I'm not seeing Seattle keeping him on. The team saves around $7 mill cutting him I believe, which they probably need to re-sign other players.

Atlanta has always had weak fan support among all it's pro sports teams. Some cities are just like that. As a Braves fan I went to some Braves games when I was a kid and the stadium was in the a REAL crappy part of town with a lot of crime. That probably doesn't help. Though they are moving to a stadium in the next county over a few years from now. That might help attendance.

Man I would love to see Philly, somehow, trade McCoy for whatever they can get. Then sign Lynch to 2-year deal, until Chris Polk settles in. That would keep the running game pretty good and save a ton of cap space.
I give it ~0.01% of happening.

Marshawn is anything but your typical RB.

Pay elite players what they're worth, structure the contract so you can cut ties easily.

I think it's more of a regional thing than specific market. Really the entire southeast in general sucks for pro sports - especially pro football. All the Florida NFL teams have attendance issues similar to the Falcons unless they have a very talented team. Back in the late 90's-early 00's Tampa Bay had a long waiting list for season tickets. These days they can't give away tickets.

It's because Atlanta is a city almost entirely defined by northerners. A large portion of the working base comes from Chicago, New York and Boston. Whenever teams from those areas are in town, the stadiums/arena are almost always sold out.

For the Braves, the fan base is far outside of the city (which is why they're moving). For the Falcons, it's largely outside of the city as well.

They sell out night games, but most Braves fans aren't in a position to come into downtown Atlanta midday. Additionally, a lot of the fanbase isn't even in Georgia, so they can't come to weeknight games.

Is the new Falcons stadium going to be outside the city too?

Super Bowl will be lit by LEDs for the first time

http://www.theverge.com/2015/2/1/795...ix-lit-by-leds

The big game today will be the first ever Super Bowl illuminated by LEDs instead of traditional metal halide lamps. University of Phoenix Stadium — home of the Arizona Cardinals and Super Bowl XLIX — was outfitted with the LED fixtures last year. Since LEDs are brighter than the old lamps, only 312 units were needed to replace the 780 metal halide lights that were originally installed in the stadium. The new lights also use 75 percent less energy, and they should last at least 20 years — far longer than the old lights that required maintenance every few seasons.

Brighter and whiter

But the lights are changing more than just corporate bottom lines. If you haven't watched a Cardinals game this season, you might notice a difference in the lighting quality. It might take a keen eye to notice, but despite using fewer than half as many lighting units, the light output onto the field is brighter and whiter than before. You'll also see that the strobe effect during slow-motion replays is gone, since LEDs don't flicker in the same way as metal halide lamps.

University of Phoenix Stadium isn't the first stadium to be lit by LEDs — NRG Stadium (home of the Houston Texans) also installed the new lights for this season. But the LEDs will now be under the scrutiny of the brightest stage of them all: the Super Bowl. Ephesus, the company that manufactured the lights, is probably hoping no one notices a difference, but at least if the power goes out like it did in 2013 it won't take a half an hour for the lights to come back on — LEDs power up instantly.
