Michael Sam is going to be on the new season of Dancing With the Stars. I guess that pretty much means he's giving up on the NFL because if he believed he had a chance at playing in the NFL he'd be focused on working out and trying to find a team. It also sends the message to coaches that Sam is more focused on trying to be a celebrity rather than training to be an NFL player.

Michael Sam sucks. He never cared about actually being a football player. At least he cancelled that dumb Oprah Network reality show. But it was very clear to me it was never about being a true NFL star from the get go.

People will come up with their own reasons why he fell to the 7th, but he was never considered any better than a 4th/5th round prospect, and his combine was flat out awful, so he's lucky he even got drafted.

He became a media darling because of his sexual orientation. When the truth is that he was never a very good NFL prospect. Hopefully he goes away now, and we can talk about players that will stick in the NFL.

I don't know if this has been talked about yet but the rumor mills swirling around these parts have the Birds giving up some significant draft picks to move up for Mariota , Chip wants him in a bad way as a matter of fact the local sports talk on radio has Chip ditching the NFL after this season if he fails on the Mariota experiment, lol. Would he do that , is he really a college guru that wants to go home , back to his roots so to speak.
On a different note, radio Philly says Maclin has a definite interest in reuniting with Big Red in KC , now that would crush the Birds receiving corp , we would have to hope that Josh Huff would and could become a key player in a starting role.
So I guess I am asking you Football minds if you think Mariota will in fact become an Eagle and do we lose Maclin ?

I hope to God Philly doesn't give up the farm for Mariota. They are not winning a Championship next season, so they have(hopefully barring injury) a whole season to get a good sample size of Nick Foles. Despite putting up subpar numbers, after a historic rookie campaign, he was still 6-2. Both loses coming to, at the time, good teams: SF and Ari...and both in the final minute in the Red Zone.
Nick Foles is not the problem. A non-existant secondary and a iffy LB corps are what need to be addressed. Then add some OL depth, as that was the real problem on the offensive side of the ball when the entire line was wracked by injury.
Let the Jets have Mariota for a few years, fizzle out, and then we can get him on the cheap to be reborn with Chip.

I've seen a couple proposed trades in mock drafts with the Eagles trading up for Mariota. CBS Sports' Pat Kirwan has the Eagles trading with the Raiders for the #4 pick and giving up their first round pick, next year's first round pick, and LeSean McCoy. Peter King of SI/The MMQB has the Eagles trading with the Redskins for the #5 pick and giving up their first and second round picks this year and a first and fourth round pick next year.

I don't know how realistic either trade is. I question whether the Eagles and Redskins would make a trade like that since they're in the same division. It's certainly possible, but I just don't know if the Redskins would make a trade where the Eagles could potentially get their QB of the future. The trade with the Raiders is intriguing but I question whether the Eagles would give up McCoy because they don't have anyone that could replace him. They couldn't really sign a replacement in free agency because any trade wouldn't happen until draft night since the Eagles would have to know Mariota was still available.

I'd do that trade with Philly in a heartbeat. I already feel like we're going to trade down. It would be like un-doing the Carson Palmer trade and then some.

Have you guys heard about this supposed Dez Bryant video which is going to be released?

The incriminating video of Dallas Cowboys superstar receiver Dez Bryant doing something supposedly Ray Rice worthy is being released today or tomorrow. According to our source, the Cowboys haven’t done a huge deal with Dez because of concern over the video. Unfortunately Bryant’s team won’t be able to stop the tape from getting out to the public. Of course Cowboys COO Stephen Jones denies knowledge of such a video. This is going to be a game changer for the Cowboys future. UPDATE: We’re being told the Cowboys have warned Dez the tape is going to be released, and from someone who has seen it, that it’s five times worse than the Ray Rice Video. His football career is in jeopardy according to our source.

Really early reports coming out regarding this, but supposedly the tape will probably be released in the next few days.

If it is even AS bad as the Ray Rice video (let alone worse as they are claiming), this will be the end of his career in the NFL.

Yeah, early word is the reason they haven't already is because supposedly they knew about the video and were waiting to find out if it would be released or not. Not sure if that is actually true, but if it is, it certainly makes sense as to why they haven't gotten a deal done yet.

I would run around the street and do the happy dance if this happened, although I doubt McCoy would be part of the deal, just another pick.... I want all the picks we can get

From the report that I read, it mentions that someone who supposedly saw the video says it is "5 times worse than the Ray Rice Video" but I'm not sure how you can really quantify that. I mean, could it really get any worse, let alone 5 times worse than the Ray Rice Video? ...Apparently?

Sounds like we will find out sooner than later.

There's been talk about the existence of this video for months, but nobody has gone on the record who has supposedly seen it. Deadspin's editor is skeptical of the video's existence because nobody has approached them trying to sell the tape and if the tape was being shopped around they would be the logical place to start.

I just didn't know what I was or wasn't allowed to say in regards to that... didn't want to offend, but that was certainly the case for Sam. I don't have a problem with his sexual orientation. That's his business.

But he clearly took advantage of it and worked the system. It's actually smart on his part, in reality. As a football player though... yea, go away.

This is exactly why I have wanted us to proceed as if as if we are hellbent at taking a QB at #2 no matter what.

If Chip wants Mariota that bad, and we keep a good poker face, he'll have to trade all the way up with us at #2 to make it happen. I would absolutely LOVE IT. We need a lot of help... It would suck watching Leonard Williams go to the Jags, but we need all the picks we can get to rebuild this crap team.

We better not settle for a low ball trade offer though.

Unfortunately, I'd expect the Eagles to call our bluff and wait until pick #4 to make a trade. They know the Jags and Raiders won't take a QB. But the Redskins at #5 and Jets at #6 sure would be likely suitors.

All in all, I'm not expecting the Eagles to pull the trigger on the trade for Mariota... unless he were to fall to pick #9 or so. In which case the trade would be me reasonable for Chip.

I just have a feeling it's going to be a letdown. But oh man the timing of these allegations could not have come at a worse time for him. lol

He and his agent have to be a wreck right now. $100mil contract on the line... and now this comes up.

It's pretty apparent to me that whoever has the video is holding it for ransom. Which is exactly why this is coming out right now... they want a lot of money for it to be deleted.

In the world we live in, with the smart phone/social media craze, I'm surprised this story stayed hidden for so long.

If this video has been circulating for a while I don't think its as bad as some people are speculating, as it would have leaked by now.... We should all wait until we see the video before making any judgment....
