Assuming all of this holds true, Philly is making all the solid moves they needed to make. A lot of great depth moves! I'm loving it.

Just a little concerned about Maclin. Heck, maybe they were going to try for Cobb and now that he's signed, they can focus on signing their own guy.
Hopefully they do this soon, so I can watch TWD in peace.
I read Cleveland was showing a lot of interest in him.

Giving Sanchez top-tier backup money shows the Eagles don't have any faith in Matt Barkley. It's sad to think that if he had declared for the draft after his junior year he was a projected top-10 pick, but he stayed in school, fell to the fourth round, and won't be a backup in his third season.

I watch the Seahawks pretty closely... They've kind of my unofficial secondary team (since the Titans suck so bad and they're in the NFC - and geographically further away from us than any other team) since about 2004-2005. Really started paying way more attention Wilson's rookie year because I knew they were special.

Anyways... Maxwell obviously got picked on A LOT due to the fact that QBs avoided Sherman like the plague. He usually made the most of this opportunity, but it can't be ignored the amazing team/talent he had around him. I would expect him to be no better than a Jason McCourty type (who I've always considered a below average #1 CB).

The Eagles defense is not as favorable of a situation for him.

I'm not saying Maxwell will suck, but without LOB there is a pretty slim chance that he'll be as effective. And for 5 years/$55mil? That would scare me, personally. Hopefully it's structured to be a two year contract if necessary. I've seen these 5 year/$50ish mil type contracts for CBs backfire hard with Finnegan and Carr. Hopefully that doesn't happen with Maxwell, but I was never that impressed with him, personally.

If you guys are able to sign DMac, it'll start looking a little better. I will be PISSED if you guys get him. JMac has been begging his brother to come here. He has the ring... now come help turn this sh*tty franchise around and get to play on the same team as your bro!

Maxwell and Suh were my two big name FAs for the Titans to avoid... because of the immense $ commitment and not necessarily fitting the scheme as well. I'd rather spread that money out elsewhere.

We locked down our punter and long snapper for five more years!!! SUPER BOWL!!!

In our FO's defense, they're probably our MVPs.

I'm pretty sure a deal will get done. Maclin played on a very team-friendly 1-yr "hey my knee is fine" deal, last season, he's not a head case(which is rare for a WR) and Chip likes him. So, hopefully soon.

Like a lot of players he will decide what is more important. Winning or money.

I liked the drafting my Matt Barkley until I saw him play. It was never pretty.
Maybe he can go elsewhere and flourish, but yep Philly is a 2 QB team.

I think it's safe to say FA's will avoid the Titans. Unless you guys are backing the Daniel Snyder armored trucks. You should be more concerned about the draft and hitting homeruns there, not in FA.
Now as for Maxwell, as I've said, Philly's major weakness was pass defense. It was historically bad! So they have to start somewhere. As much as I like Reavis I would rather have someone younger that can, hopefully, grow on this team. Reavis would be a total gun-for-hire and we went that route back in 2010 with horrible results. Maxwell held is own quite nicely down the stretch last season when filling in for injured guys, and he plays the scheme Philly runs. AND we take away a depth piece from the 2x NFC champs.
This is not only a good move, but a move that had to happen.

McCourty will resign with the Pats, I would think. No way they lose both guys!

So does the league really have a no offers mandate during this "legal" tampering window? If so it's funny how big of a middle finger they give the league when all of these deals come out today and yesterday

Just shows while the league may say they care about tampering...they just look the other way every time

No, March 10 at 4pm.
The unofficial start of 2015 NFL free agency begins today, Saturday March 7, at 12:00 PM EST. For the third year in a row, in an attempt to curb all the illegal tampering that goes on before free agency, the NFL has decided to make it legal. Actual NFL free agency does not officially begin until Tuesday, March 10 at 4:00 PM EST, but a "negotiating period" or "legal tampering" as it's come to be known begins today at noon.

Here are the important things to know regarding this 3-day negotiating window:

• Agents can negotiate numbers, but not actually sign a deal
• Teams can talk to agents, not the player
• Players can't visit other teams (except their own)
• Only applies to UFAs, not RFAs or ERFAs
• Starts today at 12 PM EST and ends when FA starts on Tuesday at 4 PM EST

McCourty will resign with the Pats, I would think. No way they lose both guys!
We have the 6th most money to spend of any team and Whiz/Webster are on the hot seat, so we're going to spend it... Teams are required to spend 90% of the cap. Unfortunately, we will probably blow it on more mediocre/average players and not improve at all.

Yes... It's all about the money (for the most part).

Considering we have no income tax and a popular growing city, players like signing here. They love Brentwood/Franklin.

McCourty's mom hates having to travel two places... I guarantee you the family wants him here. It's just easier. Ultimately, it's his decision and if he stays in NE he has a shot at one or even two more rings. It's all about what he really wants.

If the Pats don't re-sign him, I fully expect him to sign here. He's about the only big name FA I expect us to get.

But absolutely... FA is more or less useless for a team like ours. It's more helpful for teams on the cusp of greatness that need an extra guy or two to make the difference... like when the Seahawks signed Avril and Bennett in 2013.

I'm all about the draft, but guys who are still FAs I would love us to sign:

Devin McCourty
Dan Williams
Torrey Smith
James Harrison (if he doesn't stay in Pitt, he'll either retire or sign here)
Jason Worilds (as long as we aren't dumb and way overpay for him)
Chris Myers

I wanted Brandon Flowers and Todd Herremans, but they're gone now.

Moviefan is essentially right... It more or less started today. Can't be official until Tuesday.

Deals can still fall through between now and then though.

There's plenty of deals you won't hear about that will break immediately after FA's start time (4pm ET, I believe) on Tuesday.
