In 2016 McCoy was scheduled to have a cap hit of $8.85 million and in 2017 he was scheduled to have a cap hit of $7.85 million. Murray's future cap hits are nearly certain to exceed that on a deal that averages $8.4 million. They also got rid of a running back with no guaranteed money remaining and replaced him with one with $21 million guaranteed. This deal could look very bad if Murray gets hurt, like he did each of his first 3 years in the NFL plus numerous times in college.
It all depends upon how it's structured. I would assume years 1 and 2 are front loaded and year 3 carries half guaranteed and then you can get out of the rest of the years.

Oh and the Jets signed Antonio Cromartie. So the Jets have Revis, Cromartie, Skrine (who is not bad in the slot/didn't want him as a #2), Milliner, and MacDougle. That's a stable of DBs. Important because Bowles runs 3 CBs 70% of his plays (last year in AZ) and they ran the most dime formations in the league last year.

The Colts waived Trent Richardson today. A grievance will surely be filed over whether the Colts had the right to void the guaranteed money in his contract after he was suspended for missing the walk-through prior to the AFC title game because he was at the hospital where his pregnant girlfriend appeared to be in premature labor.

Uhm, any deal will look bad if the player gets hurt.

Murray might not even be here after two seasons, as we all know NFL contracts are only a series of 1-year deals.
Now with that said, there is no doubt this is a great deal for Philly. Right now on paper: saved money, added a LB, weakened a divional oppenent.
Again, the proof will be in the pudding when the season gets started.

Basically every team's moves, whether coming or going, is going to look good in the fans eyes, that post here. LOL!

I don't have any problems with the Falcons moves thus far.

Brian Orakpo agreed to a four-year, $32 million deal with the Titans with $13.5 million guaranteed. This could be a steal if Orakpo can remain healthy, as he is one of the league's top linebackers when he's 100%. The problem with Orakpo is he's got an extensive injury history, as he's torn a pectoral muscle three times in the last four years and ended up on IR twice in the last three years.

Smart move for the Cowboys would be to take a flyer on Trent Richardson. Can probably get him really cheap and see if he's motivated now.

If the Titans draft Williams that should be a hell of a defensive front 7.

They just signed McFadden and will probably sign Stevan Ridley(I don't think there's much evidence of this, just my feeling). I don't think they'll have room for him.

And I disagree about his motivation. I would love to be wrong, but I see him giving up and fizzling out.

You're not missing out on much... He's nothing special. Never lived up to the hype.

That said, I'm glad he's back... We were desperate at OLB. Had to make it happen.

It was a good morning for us. Yesterday I had said we needed to sign both Orakpo and Morgan because we had no OLBs whatsover, and the market for pass rushers was just about completely dead.

I didn't initially want Orakpo because of his injury issues. He did say he is going to cut back on power lifting because he thinks that's contributed to tearing his pec. And I agree with him on that. I still can't get my hopes up, but he's certainly capable of being a good player if he can just stay healthy.

Excited to see what he and Morgan can do with Dick LeBeau calling the shots!

We don't have a very good NT right now, and our ILBs are nothing special. Still needs some work even with Williams.

More FAs I hope we target:
James Harrison (he actually wants to come here, seems likely)
Brandon Spikes
Vince Wilfork, Red Bryant, or Kendrick Ellis

I'd like another CB, but I don't like what's available now that Culliver signed with the Redskins. I know we've visited with Perrish Cox, but I'm not a big fan. Upgrade over what we have at the #2 CB spot though.

For cheap. They're probably going to draft a RB in the first round. It's better than paying Murray 40 Million which he could get injured as well.
