Why do they report 45 million as the guaranteed number?

Dez's contract is 32 million guaranteed. "If he's still a Cowboy on X day of Y year his guaranteed number goes up" is not what "guaranteed" means.

I admit it's unlikely Dez won't be a Cowboy as soon as next year, but don't tell me it's not possible for Dez to suffer a career ending injury this year. It can happen to any player at any time.

Dez Bryant and Tony Romo have $100M in GTD money, most for any QB-WR duo. It's nearly $15M GTD more than next closest QB-WR, Calvin-Stafford

The initial guaranteed number is usually inflated because it's almost always the player or agent that leaks the guaranteed number to the press and the team isn't going to come out and dispute what the press was told, so the initial guaranteed number is usually what the public remembers. When Colin Kaepernick signed his contract is was initially reported that $61 million was guaranteed, but when the actual contract was seen the true guarantee was $25.9 million. DeAngelo Hall's contract with the Raiders was reported as having $24.5 million guaranteed, but when he was cut after 8 games he "only" made $8 million. The players and agents know the casual fan might read the initial story about the contract which contains the inflated number, but is less likely to read a subsequent story with the real guarantee.

Yeah, I kind of thought it was just agent's press effectively lying to people.

It just bugs me that even when the number changes because it's known officially sites like ESPN don't change their headlines.

Yea, I'm sure you're right, but we're getting way too close for comfort right now. Two weeks.

If it's too much money for Dez, it's way too much for Thomas.

If Dez was on the Broncos the last three seasons with Peyton, he would've been better than Thomas.

It's a ton of money, of course, but I remember last season thinking Dez would end up with like a 7 year/$100mil deal (which is virtually the same per year salary as what he just signed). I know Megatron and Fitzgerald had contracts in that range.

Definitely not too much for either WR... This is where the WR market is.

Fantastic moment. Proud to be a Packer fan.

Things with Favre could have been dealt with so much better on both sides of the fence, however, it's time to forget about those things. It's time to remember exactly what Brett meant to the Packers and to the NFL. His time with the Packers is something that will likely never be duplicated by another QB. And for that, he deserved every bit of the 67,000 fans and their standing ovation.

The toughest QB to ever play the game. 327 games streak will never be broken. All the rules on player safety prevent anyone from even sniffing it.

He never suffered a substantial injury until near the end of his career and when he did, he retired. Peyton may not beat the streak but I'd say he has a decent chance at beating most games played. Even if his arm is starting to go, he started right away while Favre languished on the bench.

Not saying he was necessarily tougher than Favre, and I know I may be biased, but Steve McNair was the ultimate warrior on the field. Dude was hurt non-stop, but still went out there and gave everything he had every Sunday.

Definitely not as durable as Favre, but he endured way more severe injuries and always found a way to play on Sundays... Even when he didn't practice all week and could barely bend over to tie his shoes.

I think it was McNair's 2003 MVP season where they put up a chart with all the injuries he'd endured that year... Had an injury just about everywhere on his body.

RIP

As a rookie he (Justin Hunter) was becoming one of my favorite players... with his game winning last second TD against San Diego and awesome TD against the Jets before halftime.

Really thought he was going to breakout last season... then he quickly turned into one of my least favorite players.

Now with this news, he's my official least favorite. Wouldn't even mind if they cut him. This should, at the very least, drop him to #5 or #6 on the depth chart... but he very well could be cut.

Wright
Douglas
DGB
Nicks
McBride
Hunter

We really need DGB to be great. Otherwise this is a horrible receiving corps.

Those are some serious charges for Hunter. I was really high on him when he was drafted.

Peterson to restructure contract with Vikings.

Will probably go down in history as another great player that never reached/won the Super Bowl.
