I find it interesting that stuff like this is already happening and BUF fans have no choice but to defend him 5 games into his rookie year. Just wait until year 3 or so (if he even lasts that long). I get it though, there's the excitement and enthusiam he initially brings to the team...believe me, if anyone understands, it's Jets fans. BUT, wait for a few in-game miscues or ill-timed clock management issues and you'll understand precisely where I'm coming from.

Why wouldn't we defend him? He's an excellent football coach. We love Rex. He understands WNY and our identity. I honestly believe that he is going to take us places we haven't seen in quite some time.

My point is, 5 games in and he's already giving folks cause to doubt his head coaching ability. He's a great DC and has proven that. A great HC...not so much, but I suppose the jury's still out on that given it's only his second stint.

Hey, I hope that's the case, it makes for a better battle in the AFCE as we try to unseat the SB champs that have owned the division for years now. I just wish we could play you guys sooner than Week 10, but regardless, it'll be a doozie if both teams keep on a similar path.

Ryan has made it to two conference title games despite never having a good quarterback and poor GMs running the team. That's a lot more success than a lot of supposedly good coaches have had, and that's coming from a Patriots fan who can't stand him. Rex does need to do a better job of controlling his emotions and get the team to cut down on their stupid penalties but the team is in a lot better shape now than it was a year ago.

Fair enough, during those 2 seasons, he employed a good strategy of the power run game coupled with a stout defense and those were great times indeed in Jetland. Like I said earlier, those first 2-3 years were a lovefest, but then the wheels fell off once his ego got the best of him (his "handpicked" draft signings, the bravado, the love of the spotlight, etc.). Eh, Tannenbaum was a decent GM...yeah, he GM'd like a kid would in Madden but he was able to field a formidable defense early on in Rex's tenure and was able to navigate the first Revis extension. Idzik, I will agree with...TOTAL GARBAGE, but by the time he came around, the writing was on the wall, Rex was a dead man walking.

Hopefully, I'm not coming off as a scorned lover cuz I'm VERY happy to have who we have as HC now. That being said, it's just interesting to be able to step back and watch the Rex show from afar and notice the striking similarities between the methods he employs now with the methods he employed then.

Unlike the Falcons those teams have beaten good opponents. Falcons have played no winning teams and have 2 winning teams left on the schedule and are probably one and done in the playoffs.

So, if I misunderstood your comment I apologize. But as of today (or even yesterday when you posted) the Falcons aren't the only team that can say they beat a playoff team. Again, unless I'm just not understanding for which, I apologize for in advance if true.

He's 22 years old. I'm going to chalk this up as a learning experience for the young man. I wouldn't be surprised if this started a mistrust of the media for him though. I don't believe he felt Dunne was going to go write an article about it. He can learn a lot from this. Tomorrow is a huge game for him though. Everyone is going to be seeing if he can back up his words.

Nobody has clinched a playoff spot. But, the Falcons have beat the entire NFC East, so they are guaranteed to have a win over a playoff team.
