Coughlin steps down as HC of the NYG:

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...staff-hes-out/

Tom Coughlin steps down as Giants coach
Posted by Josh Alper on January 4, 2016, 2:20 PM EST

The meeting with Giants ownership is done and it appears Tom Coughlin is as well.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Coughlin went from meeting with Giants co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch to a meeting with his coaching staff and informed them that the team is making a head coaching change. There’s no word on whether that is a firing, resignation or a mutual parting of the ways.

Coughlin’s tenure with the Giants comes to an end after 12 seasons. He had a 102-90 record with the team and won a pair of Super Bowls since being hired to replace Jim Fassel before the 2004 season. Coughlin’s teams made the playoffs in four of his first five years, but they’ve missed the postseason in six of the last seven and have a 19-29 record over the last three seasons.

There will presumably be an official announcement coming from the Giants in short order and Coughlin’s record of success with both the Giants and the Jaguars, who he coached for eight years, could put him on some wish lists for other teams looking for coaches this week.

UPDATE 2:30 p.m. ET: Coughlin has released a statement announcing he is stepping down as the Giants’ coach.

“I met with John Mara and Steve Tisch this afternoon, and I informed them that it is in the best interest of the organization that I step down as head coach. I strongly believe the time is right for me and my family, and as I said, the Giants organization.”

And Tommy Sparklepony has a high ankle sprain. He's lucky that's all he has considering Suh and company treated him like a pretzel yesterday.

Are you taking the division back next year? I don't see Chicago or Detroit competing for the crown, but crazier things have happened. Minnesota has pretty much the same schedule (Arizona & Carolina instead of Seattle & Atlanta). I would love to see these two play in week 17 for the division again!

I think we can all agree that's a solid 16-0.

Honestly? I don't want them worried about the Division title because having a home game in the playoffs hasn't meant anything since the Lombardi days. Too many times I've witnessed teams come in there and take them to the woodshed. I think it's good they lost their crown and knocked down to the 5th seed. Maybe then the defense will do its job, Adams and Cobb actually catch the football and the O-line, hopefully, they won't give up 9 sacks again like in the Cards game.

I think Chicago and Detroit will improve but it'll be between Green Bay and Minnesota again.

Former Ohio St. star and NFL washout Maurice Clarett has been arrested... again. This guy destroyed his career and life with a string of arrests that resulted in 3.5 years in prison for robbery. He just can't stay clean.

http://espn.go.com/college-football/...t-arrested-ovi

Quote:
Former Ohio State star RB Maurice Clarett was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence and turn signal violations after being pulled over Sunday by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Clarett, 32, was driving northbound on I-71 in a 2011 black Infiniti when he was pulled over at 1:52 p.m. Clarett refused field-sobriety and blood-alcohol tests.

An Ohio State Highway Patrol spokesperson told The Columbus Dispatch that Clarett was alone and appeared impaired. He was arrested and taken to the Morrow County sheriff's office and released to a sober driver, the spokesperson told The Dispatch.

Clarett was summoned to appear in court on Thursday.

Clarett spent one season at Ohio State, rushing for 1,237 yards while scoring 18 touchdowns in helping the Buckeyes win the 2002 BCS National Championship. However, he was dismissed from the program after one season after becoming the center of a scandal involving improper benefits.

Clarett later served 3½ years in prison on robbery and concealed weapons charges, then played for the Omaha Nighthawks of the UFL in 2011. He released a book in 2012 in which he boasted of making plenty of money in college and described a life of guns and drugs.

Hard to see Cam not getting Offensive Player of the Year as well... Otherwise, I agree with all of that.

Could've been Mariota for OROTY if our OL didn't murder him.

Bills Mafia!! Buffalo Bills Fan Set Himself On fire At Tailgate - YouTube
A few weeks ago there were two Bills fans caught on camera having sex in the tailgating parking lot right out in the open.

Though I suppose this sort of thing happens across the NFL. At my first Jaguars game a homeless man casually walked up near my friend's truck, pulled down his pants and took a crap on the ground with a lot of people around. When we asking the guy what he was doing he said "taking a shit bro" before pulling up his pants and casually walking away. Weird things happen at football tailgating events all the time.
