In news no one (but me) cares about, Byron Bell dislocated his ankle and is out for the season. First day of OTAs.

He is not a great player by any means, but considering how weak our OL depth is, we were going to need him one way or another. He was either going to start at LG of be the backup to every OL position.

Sucks.

In slightly related news, LG Ron Leary is asking out of Dallas, maybe the Titans and the Cowboys can come to an arrangement.

I understand there are practical problems with that, but I hate hate hate that record is everything. Going 10-6 in a good division is more impressive than 11-5 in a bad one. Incidentally this is the same reason why I think Luck is tremendously overrated. His wins are largely against the weaker parts of the league.

Wouldn't mind it if we didn't give up anything more than a 6th for him. He has one year left on his contract.

I'm sure we will do something... Louis Vasquez, Jahri Evans, or trade for Leary. Leary would probably be the most viable of the bunch, but less likely to be able to work out a trade.

I'm glad no one here drops on their knees for Luck like so many others do.

He's so incredibly overrated. He was AWFUL last season even when healthy. And I'm sick of him getting all these excuses about his OL. I've seen his OL hold up protection just fine, but he holds on to the ball way too long and does something dumb. Yet everyone still blames the OL.

Funny how Mariota didn't get those excuses last year playing behind the worst OL in the league. I would've killed to have Indy's OL last year.

Luck's numbers outside the division are mediocre, at best. His numbers against the Titans aren't even that great. Yea, he gets the W, but that's usually because we give it away.

I care only because he used to be on our team and everyone despised him immensely. I still have nightmares about him trying to block Connor Barwin two years ago.

Any games missed would certainly change that projection.
I'm very curious about Washington this season. They had a pretty solid draft and with Brown, Beckham(x2) and Bryant(x2) on the schedule, they needed Norman. Plus this is typically when McCloughan teams start to take off.

Yea I remember you commenting plenty on him and I was familiar with how bad he was at LT. He wasn't nearly as bad here as our LG. Was definitely below average when he played at RT. And with a better group around him and not a horrible OL coach, I think he could've been fine for us this season as our starting LG. Either way, he was quality depth.

All in all, how would you grade Oher's performance throughout last season?

I know he was horrific in the Super Bowl... That's how he looked every week for us in 2014. But just curious how you guys managed to do so well with him at LT, much less RT as he was with us.

Very well could be a coaching issue. I'm hoping that's the case and that our OL will be much improved this season.

Other was probably an average left tackle for us last year which was a huge step up from having Bell there the year before. I know Oher was injured when he played for the Titans so I expected better from him with us. I also felt like our team dynamics were a better fit for him than in Tennessee, not to mention we have the same offensive line coach that he had in Baltimore where he had his best performance. I expect him to progress more this year and move from that average range to above average. I don't expect him to be elite.

Oher isn't the lineman I think of when you say horrific in the Super Bowl. That was Mike Remmers. We knew Remmers was terrible against speed rushers all year. Denver did an excellent job of isolating Von Miller with Remmers.

Jeff Fisher is 10 losses away from holding the NFL record for most losses by a head coach. I know he is the master of winning just enough games not to get fired, but I didn't realize he was that high on the loss chart.

Might as well call him "Mr. Six to Eight." Fisher is a master at winning 6 to 8 games a year. He's won between 6 and 8 games in 11 of 21 seasons. In St. Louis every season the team has won 6 to 7 games. His teams have had a winning record just 6 times in 21 years. Like you say, just enough not to get fired. Though now in LA I think he'll be on the hot seat.

Fisher is sort of an outlier among coaches with the most losses. Of the ten coaches with the most losses most won a championship or at least made it to multiple title games. Fisher has just one Super Bowl appearance.

Starting Goff might buy him an extra year in LA, you have to expect growing pains with a rookie quarterback.

Fisher sucks. He always gets every excuse, and I'm sure this will buy him another year and then in 2017 he'll manage to go 9-7, sneak in the playoffs, go one and done and get a 5 year extension. Rinse and repeat.

Hasn't won a playoff game since January 2004 in Baltimore. I was there...

Get out of the league already, Fish!

I didn't realize he was only 10 losses away from the most in history. That's hilarious. Lol

Jeff Fisher is respected in the league and was on the competition committee. Guess that stuff goes a long way.

Berman retiring from ESPN. Don't think this comes as a surprise.
Colber or Wingo would be a much needed upgrade. Personally I'd like to see Colber for purely selfish reasons!

I'll miss Berman. I have such fond memories of watching him growing up. Primetime was so fun to watch back in the 90's on Sunday evenings.

I still do. I've always enjoyed the ESPN crew. I guess change is inevitable. Hopefully the new crew does a good job.
