You and I might think it's the best sport in the world, but almost nobody outside the U.S. except for ex-pats agree. American Football is an American sport. It never has and probably never will have any real support outside the U.S. and to a lesser extent Canada. A Super Bowl or any other meaningful game played overseas would be nothing more than a colossal waste of time. Do any European countries even have football fields? I've never heard of there being teams of Euro players before. Like I said, American sport the rest of the world hates more than we hate soccer.

A Super Bowl in someplace like London would be a disaster. Most of the people there would just be British people who have no idea what's going on and just be there for the spectacle. Then a week later everyone there would go right back to hating our sport.

pretty much the team on offense moves down the field at will
but the turnovers and the defense makes you groan every time
there's teams that don't even come close in those categories yet have winning records

6th in rushing this ones surprising

Jets need to get tomlinson the ball out of the backfield, it worked vs the patriots last season and it worked vs the cowboys/oakland this year, and he is averaging 14+ (pretty much double his career avg) yards per catch this year

in all of the losses other than the oakland game the Jets didn't even give him 5 touches rushing or receiving, you have one of the best receiving backs ever and you don't let him do what he does best, that's why I hate watching the Jets offense and also why they suck

The Eagles game against San Francisco was a classic example. Vick had 491 total yards and they still scored just 23 points, losing to the 49'ers.

Eagles are -10 in takeaways/giveaways. Nest worst in the NFC is nowhere close to that at -4.

Agree. NFL is strictly for the US and Canada. The Superbowl outside of the US is utter bs. Too bad LA doesn't have a facility yet.

Playing "PRO" soccer in US and Canada is a complete waste of money and time. Beckham is washedup like any European footballer that comes to North America to play "soccer"....all about the miney.

Texans acquired WR Derrick Mason from the Jets in exchange for a conditional seventh-round draft pick.
The writing was on the wall for Mason, who played just five snaps in Sunday's loss to the Patriots after criticizing the Jets' offense last week. Of course, those words probably wouldn't have mattered if he had done anything on the field. Mason hasn't, making 13 catches for 115 yards in five games. In Houston, he'll provide veteran insurance for a club expected to be without Andre Johnson for at least the next two weeks. Although Mason is joining an offense worlds ahead of New York's, it's hard to believe he's in for a meaningful uptick in production. 37 1/2 years old, Mason lost his ability to separate in Baltimore last season. The receiver-thin Ravens wouldn't have cut him in July if he had anything left.

On final play, Raiders had 10 men on the field

The day after Raiders owner Al Davis died, his team clinched a victory over the Texans by thwarting the Texans from the doorstep of the end zone on the final play of the game, as safety Michael Huff intercepted Houston quarterback Matt Schaub in the end zone.

In what was a fitting, albeit surely unintentional, missing-man formation tribute to Mr. Davis, the Raiders managed to keep the Texans from scoring with only 10 players on the field.

Reminds me a bit of Tony Dorsett's 99.5 yard touchdown run against Minnesota when we had 10 men on the field.

10 men on the field is one of those things that if the Raiders lost we'd be calling them idiots but since they were successful it makes their defense look even better. Sure doesn't look good for Houston

I'm actually surprised there ARE any Texans fans, considering how popular the Cowboys are.

The St. Petersburg Times reports the "sense" at Bucs headquarters is that LeGarrette Blount (knee) will not play in Week 6.
It's the sense we've gotten too, because Blount took a hard helmet to the knee in Sunday's loss to the 49ers and couldn't return. He wasn't made available to speak to reporters Wednesday morning. 31-year-old third-down back Earnest Graham will try to pick up most of the slack, but ultimately the Bucs probably won't have much rushing success against the Saints. Kregg Lumpkin and sixth-round rookie Allen Bradford are alternatives at tailback.

Even if LA gets a team I'd be curious if they could get Super Bowl L because there's no way a new stadium would be built by then. It takes at least 3 1/2 years to build a stadium like the ones they are talking about in LA and even in a best case scenario construction wouldn't start until 2013 so it couldn't be done by February 2016. I wonder if the NFL would hold the Super Bowl at the Rose Bowl or Coliseum. Neither stadium is near as luxurious as current NFL stadiums but they've both hosted Super Bowls in the past.

The Cowboys stadium took less than 2 years to erect, didn't it? Why would it take so long to build one out in Angeles?

Until they get rid of Kubiak they won't go far. They have all the talent (barring this years injuries) to make it deep into the playoffs. Kubiak is holding them back IMO. And i like the Texans a hell of a lot more than the cowboys.

They don't seem to have all the talent to me, Andre Johnson and Mario Williams are huge but should not be holding that team back that much. The Texans are still probably going to win that division, even with Tennessee being a bit resurgent, maybe they can pull all this "talent" together in time to make some noise.

as an NFL fan i'm glad that Al Davis' last 10 years haven't dominated the news coverage and memories of all of the incredible things that he brought to football. He was a football genius.

We think of sports owners now as businessmen who got rich in oil or the dot.com age and wanted to buy a team. Like Jon Gruden said, he's the only owner that could walk into your office and draw up schemes on your blackboard.

For all of his faults we'll never see another person like him. He's the best villain the NFL will ever see. And with the Raiders playing good football it's almost like he got the last laugh.
