What the heck is going on in Washington? For the life of me I can't figure out why Washington hasn't either fished or cut bait.
Do they think that the going rate of ~$20mil/yr for a starting QB isn't right?
I've got a lot of respect for Scott McCloughan, as he's been right more than he's been wrong, but I'm not sure what he's waiting for? Cousins to get hurt? Regress? Improve? Some QB in this year's draft?
Now if they tag him again he goes from ~$20mil to ~$24mil. Just seems like a risky game of chicken for both sides.
But as a division rival, I hope it backfires!

Cousins is a borderline good QB, they're probably waiting to see if he improves. Not sure it's the right move but I'd wait too, he has yet to prove he'd be worth the investment.

I'll absolutely give you that those TEAMS were better that you named, but then again, this debate isn't really about the actual teams, it's really about the best QB.

Brady is unequivocally the best QB of all time, and it's by a wide margin at this point. And even though his actual teams were never as talented (save for the '07 squad) as Montana's 49ers or Aikman's Cowboys, the Pats run of dominance far surpasses of all them (and it still could go on a couple more years). And then add to the fact that it's a much different league then when a lot of those guys played, it just makes the Pats run even more special.

If Brady manages to win a 5th ring (and possibly more if he stays healthy), then anybody who STILL isn't on board with this line of thinking really shouldn't call themselves a football fan, you'll just end up looking foolish.

Cousins has all the tools, the question remains whether or not he has the mental fortitude to make big plays in big moments. That's really what separates the big game QBs from the rest. He's done pretty well for a 4th round pick that was taken as insurance for RG III

Totally, I couldn't agree more. Much like you said, it almost seems like WAS is waiting for the other shoe to drop with him based on what I've seen.

WGR 550 Buffalo's Sal Capaccio reports if Panthers DC Sean McDermott is named the Bills' new coach, Capaccio "keeps hearing" ex-Chargers coach Mike McCoy "could join him" as offensive coordinator.
There are obviously moving parts here, but it sure sounds like the Bills have "zeroed in" on McDermott as their next coach. McCoy is viewed by many as the top offensive coordinator on the market. The two have never coached together. McCoy's presence could be a reason Buffalo is leaning toward McDermott. McCoy has done well with numerous different quarterbacks.

ESPN's Jim Trotter reports the NFL believes the Raiders are done in Oakland, and is working to "clear a path" for a move to Las Vegas.
The league is meeting to discuss the situation on Wednesday. Owner Mark Davis has been frank about his desire to uproot the team for Sin City. Miracles do happen in these situations, but it appears the Bay Area will be losing its only competitive football team.
