Major news, per Jay Glazer a deal is near in which Carson Palmer would be traded to the Raiders for a 2012 first round pick.

The Raiders & Bengals are close to a trade that would send Carson Palmer to OAK for a first-rounder in 2012 and a conditional pick in future

I totally agree with its significance, just making the case that if Revis continues to make Pro Bowls or wins a super bowl he'll probably be considered the greatest ever for the affiliation with the city, when really he may or may not be better than say Woodson or someone else.

And I think the "kinda hard to compare" is an easy opt out for anyone of any team in that era my team included.

The Palmer trade is now official. The Bengals receive a 2012 first round pick and a conditional second round pick in 2013 that could end up being a first round pick based on Palmer's play. Also even though Glazer had this story more than 10 minutes before anyone else ESPN is not crediting him as breaking the story.

Wow the Raiders are horrible. Giving up potentially 2 first rounders is ridiculous. Palmer is no savior QB. Just above average.

The Raiders are expected to agree to a deal with the Cincinnati Bengals that would send quarterback Carson Palmer to Oakland for a 2012 first-round draft pick, Fox Sports Insider and NFL Network contributor Jay Glazer reported Tuesday, via Twitter.

The Raiders have been active in the quarterback market ever since Jason Campbell broke his collarbone during a 24-17 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. It had been reported that the club was interested in acquiring Palmer, but the quarterback's rocky history with Bengals owner Mike Brown made pulling off a trade an uphill battle.

Glazer reported that Raiders coach Hue Jackson's close relationship with Brown played a large role in getting him to move away from his hard stance that Palmer would not get his wish for a trade before Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET deadline.

For once, owner Mike Brown's stubbornness paid off. The Bengals land a king's ransom for a player that was essentially no longer part of their organization. Palmer is now reunited with Hue Jackson, who was an assistant in Cincy from 2004-06. Although Palmer's arm strength and mobility appeared to be declining badly in his final days with the Bengals, he'll be an immediate and significant upgrade on Kyle Boller. It also means that Jason Campbell, set to become a free agent after this season, is likely gone. Palmer's name is worth more than his game, but he is on the QB2 radar and will keep afloat the current value of Darrius Heyward-Bey and Denarius Moore.

OK Both ESPN and NFLN have the parameters of the deal as being in place it has not been completed as of yet but is expected to be filed and done by the 4:15pm Deadline. So as of now the deal is still not done, but the parameters of the deal you have posted are correct 2012 1st Rounder, and 2013 conditional 2nd rounder, that could turn into a 1st rounder to Cincy for Palmer to Raiders.

Everyone wins except the Raiders. Palmer gets to leave and be a whiny prick elsewhere. Bengals get 1-2 FIRST ROUND draft picks.

Raiders get to hope that he doesn't cry and not show up when they don't win as much as he wants.
