Let the players protest on their own time, not during work hours. Just like the rest of the Nation’s workforce. |

The NYJ offseason moves looking pretty good right now...
B-Marsh leaves for the NYG, season-ending injury. Decker goes to TEN and has done next to nothing. Mangold and Revis both currently not on a team. David Harris leaves for NE, doesn't see the field much. These were some pretty unpopular moves at the time, but in hindsight they've turned out to be solid. |

These protests are empty gestures if they do nothing off the field. They kneel for a few seconds and when the cameras are off they go back to partying. I'm not so sure it's even about social injustice anymore. Could be the players found a way they can pressure the league.
If any of us were protesting on the job we'd be fired immediately. Last edited by Tony208; 10-10-2017 at 02:25 PM. |

The protests themselves don't bother me, but the incessant coverage they get does get annoying. I'd never tell an athlete or celebrity to "stay in their lane" and not advocate for causes they believe in, but I'm starting to gravitate towards the "sports should be an escape from the real world" camp.
Having said that, once the game gets started and they're actually playing football, I'm happy. |

It'll be interesting to see if Mangold or Revis play this year at all. Mangold is still getting over the ankle injury that ended his season last year and doesn't seem to care that much if he plays again but maybe he'd come back if a team needed him for a playoff run. Revis doesn't have a lot of incentive to play since the Jets are paying him $6 million this year and that has offsets so if he signed anywhere he'd be essentially playing for free, but he could come back late in the season to try and set himself up for a 2018 contract and maybe chase another ring.

Don't see a lot of players traded during the season. Peterson signing in New Orleans never made a lot of sense with their offensive scheme.

The trade makes sense for both teams. Peterson clearly wasn't going to be a factor for New Orleans and now they can give more playing time to rookie Alvin Kamara. There's virtually no risk for the Cardinals. As usual the Saints structured Peterson's contract to push as much money as possible into the future (a terrible way to build a team which has crippled the Saints for years) so Peterson's only due around $500,000 for the remainder of the season (plus potential incentives) with nothing guaranteed after the season.
