I'm just saying, while it's amazing for the longevity, it comes down to mostly luck to avoid any serious injury. There's nothing amazing about that streak compared to yards thrown, touchdowns received, home runs hit, etc.

We've seen some great ones get injured (Brady, Manning, Griffey Jr., just to name a few).

Came across a mock draft that was published on Saturday and holy crap was the guy lazy. He had the Jets making the top overall pick because they "figure to be the worst team in the NFL." His draft order was by preseason Super Bowl odds... heading into at the time week seven of the season? And he couldn't even be bothered to look at any standings to make his write-up?

What??? A lot.of.the.ironman players played through plenty of injuries. Guys like Favre and Ripken for example played in plenty of games they probably shouldn't have. Was that always to the benefit.of the team? Not necessarily but it's pretty damn noble of them to feel the need to play and not seem like they are letting anyone down.

Or at the same time, it could be selfish if they aren't contributing to the team whereas someone else could have.

I'm NOT saying these guys are terrible, or that those streaks aren't impressive, I'm just saying they don't mean anything.. at least to me. They don't translate to success necessarily and just means they were lucky enough to avoid any tragic injuries that would have taken them out.
