That’s the only way. None of that air ball crap.
One on one. Place an unopened can arm length from the back line down the center line. First hit opens. Every hit after that the other person has to chase the ball down and yell “stop” when they get it. Once a can gets drained it gets crushed. Next hit after the crushed can wins.
Bonus rule, when you hit the can and the ball bounces back on to your side you can slam it in any direction.
You can play doubles, just use two arms lengths from each corner. Same rules.

Wow, that's like a totally different game. Ours was pairs, each person on the team shoots one ball each. If you both make a cup then you both get to go again. There were also rollbacks, like if the ball bounces off a cup and rolls back to you then you get to shoot it again but it has to be behind the back. And then there were all sorts of other rules like you can re-rack once you get down to four cups and some stuff I don't even remember anymore.

It was a simpler time. A better time. It was college.
