Plus in light of Jerruh’s failed coup, no time would be better than 2018.
And for the longest time Detroit didn't get a primetime game besides Thanksgiving. Monday night, Sunday night, whatever. I don't see how Detroit being guaranteed one game on Thanksgiving is hurting when they've expanded it to three games on the holiday. It's not being an "insider", it's preserving a historical tradition Detroit has had since the 30's. And now there's Christmas games, fend for one of those.

Like I said, strip Dallas of their game for all I care. That's two games, revolving each year.

Detroit first and I bet the ratings would agree with me.

Please just shut up.

Football is football, and sure Dallas brings in higher ratings, but they also have a better timeslot. Or we could just keep the one team that's has it from day 1.

It’s not Anti-Detroit, it’s Pro-fair rotation. Even make it incentive based: only previous year playoff teams(as home games) are eligible.
Tradition was altered when Dallas was added, then altered again when a third game was added. So tradition, outside of Detroit doesn’t exist. Lol.
I get it, you’re a fan, but so are the people of all the other teams that would like to host a Thanksgiving Day game.
I’m a long time fan and for me the tradition is FOOTBALL on that day, not any particular team.
It’s probably never going to happen anyway, as I said this the one issue where the NFL is like the tar pit that is MLB, when talking about change.

Heck, have four games, 2 NFC and 2 AFC. Look at the NBA! They run 5 this Christmas Day. Lol!

Personally I would just leave it alone. Detroit in the morning, Dallas in the afternoon and some kind of rotation for the night game. Caveat would be that's the only day of the year we have TNF. Revenue goes down a bit, oh well, player safety is more important.

EXACTLY! So just let us have it while 5 other teams can all play on the day! I love football just as much - I watch the other two games just as I do Detroit's, and football on Thanksgiving in general is a nice tradition. I get that, but I'd bet any one else, including you, would not be happy if say Philly had this tradition and they were to suddenly to lose it.

Philly lost the Army/Navy game for a bit. Traditions always make way for new traditions. Lol!
Also I could counter with the same. IF Detroit didn’t host every year you would be in support of a change if it were to happen.

If we want fairness in NFL, then a lot needs to happen - 1) bye weeks need to be scheduled more fairly), 2) lose the stupid international games, 3) get rid of shoddy referees, 4) MNF or SNF needs to be hosted more appropriately.

Lol, now you’re trying to move mountains. I agree with all of that, but correcting all those items would be much more complex than a simple schedule change.

I'm just pointing out that there will never be a reasonable amount of fairness no matter how we wish for it. Making a scheduling change on Thanksgiving to strip away a team's tradition isn't going to make it any much fairer than it is now.

Let the Lions and Cowboys have it. While it would be fun, I don’t need the anxiety of my team playing on Thanksgiving.

Mentioned before - NFLN has in their cable provider $$ contracts that they need to carry a certain amount of LIVE games.
NFLN charges providers around the 5th highest $$ amount per subscriber than any other cable channel -- so its a big BIG moneymaker for nfl.

Also technically theres still 2 TNF games left
ind/bal on saturday & pit/hou on monday are actually part of the TNF package.

I can get behind a change like this! While I do enjoy watching Dallas play on Turkey Day, it would be good to see different teams go through the rotation.

Why so much hate for Dallas, I thought we were cool.

Just stop with the narrow-minded comments.

Or we could just change everything entirely & make it a bit more diversified.

Ok - Diversification.

Here's a GREAT idea..........

Play the Super Bowl in the North!

Thanksgiving isn't going to bring in more revenue than any other game, it's just the joy of being on national TV and hosting a primetime game. But the SuperBowl...... now that's a money maker! How many times are we going to have it in Tampa Bay? New Orleans? Whereever. Bring that in football weather - Chicago, Green Bay, New England, Buffalo.... they've done one, once, in NYC, and it worked out. Even if the weather was to be crappy, people are still going to come.

I believe the competition committee(which I've considered corrupt for years) votes on Super Bowl sites. They're the ones to blame, although the Super Bowl this year is at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. I'm sure Everson Griffen and Adam Thielen would love to play in that one.

Yes, Minnesota, but that's an inside stadium.

Hoping the results of Elliott's jaunt to Cabo San Lucas will go better than the time Romo and company went down there in 2007.
