Speaking of broadcasters how great would it be if they hired bob uecker to go all major league on the highlights from the browns 0-16 season.

Not so fast.... Back in 1981, I flew to MSP to catch a train to Seattle... I took a taxi from the MSP airport to the train station. I was wearing a large belt buckle for my train "Journey." The buckle said "DALLAS" in big letters. Well, the 45 year old white male cab driver, was not pleased.

He asked me indignantly "Is your name Dallas????"

I said "No, that's where I'm from." And he gave some snide remark, which I just ignored.

Anyone from "Dallas" was sh*t in his books, because, of the way the Cowboys beat the Vikings in that 1975 "Hail Mary" Divisional Playoff Game.

So, even after 5 years, some in MSP were still very butt hurt over the results of that playoff game.

I doubt that guy is still driving a cab... but his grandson might be...

I've seen this many many times when teams played the Cowboys, especially in the 70's and the 90's.

The other team would come and and be psyched to the gills that were going to beat The Cowboys. But, to achieve that, they gave 110% early on, while the Cowboys just paced themselves, and played their game, and sure enough, moor often than not, the Cowboys still had something in the tank, and, saved the best for last, and then poured on the 110%, while the other team, was just simply just out of gas.

It NEVER bothered me that the Cowboys were behind, in the first, or second quarter. If we didn't get the lead until sometime in the 4th quarter... that was okay with me, because, I knew we were in it, to win it.

Yeah I'm not expecting y'all to sleep on us. But as far as general expectations go, clearly we're being written off in a lot of circles, and that's fine by me. Another NFC East team was underestimated against you guys -- twice

Yeah but every team until Tom Brady and bill retire are gonna be underdogs. Didn’t help Seahawks or Atlanta.

So all the Vikings fans I know are telling me about how rude Eagles fans were after the game on Sunday. Hello people, we've known how Eagles fans act for a long time now.
[Show spoiler]Yes I am ribbing the Eagles fans who frequent this thread.

Waaah! Good riddance. Was never a big fan of Costas.

As far as his message about injury, as I’ve been saying for years: make playing in the NFL a hazardous job.
How many coal miners are killed outright while working, let alone all those that suffer long term illness from years spent working in mines?
What about bridge workers, sky scraper workers, astronauts, police officers, firefighters, military etc etc.
Why aren’t all the deaths, injures and illnesses associated with those jobs being placed under a microscope. Money maybe? Not a lot of millionaires in those fields I would imagine.
Why can’t football be lumped in with those hazardous jobs? The players sign some paperwork acknowledging they know what they are getting into, just like someone that signs up to climb thousands of feet, be a first responder or fight for freedom all over the world.

Eagles' Jenkins bringing newly released prisoner to Super Bowl

http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/...t5R&ocid=ientp
Songster, 45, was locked up for 30 years for a murder he committed when he was a teenager. He and another runaway, Dameon Brome, both originally from Brooklyn, received mandatory life sentences in 1988 for killing 17-year-old Anjo Pryce in a Philadelphia crack house.
Yeah, lets not reward an upstanding citizen that has a job and makes ends meet or anything.

That’s part of Jenkins’ charity that gives recently released prisoners a second chance at making a new life for themselves. I know he had a few ex-prisoners model some of the neck ties that are part of his clothing line.
A very risky charity, if you ask me, but hopefully it works much more than it doesn’t.

I'm fine with assistance, jobs, etc. But let's not be rewarding them

It’s his charity, he can pretty much do what he wants.
Plus countless corporate sponsors give away numerous tickets for anyone that wants to enter.

Tom Brady keep his suspension letter and straight looks into the camera and says thank you. Hahaha. Then won the super bowl savage.

I think it's obvious what's going on here. Vince no doubt got encouragement from his good friend Donald to try to take on the NFL again. Both McMahon and Trump hate the NFL with a passion due to previous axes to grind. I'm sure we'll see plenty of Trump Tweets promoting the XFL as a great way for football fans to thumb their nose at the "un-American" NFL.

And I think we know how this is going to end. Same as the first time the XFL came and went. The amount of money Vince is putting into this venture is barely a fraction of what would be needed to form a viable sports league. The $100 million Vince is supposedly spending is a drop in the bucket. It will fail. Probably within one year as the first XFL did.

Understood - I'm just saying there's a lot more deserving people.
