Allen will be tempting for every team because of of his potential ceiling. But I would have a tough time picking him over Darnold.

They got rid of Kizer. Apparently too many turnovers for a rookie with a dull support cast. While other QB's that have went on to have great careers started with a good number of turnovers.

Yet, Darnold... all I can think of him is turnovers.

The Browns and Jarvis Landry are reportedly close to an agreement on a 5-year, $75.5 million contract with $47 million guaranteed. The $15.1 million average will be the 5th-highest in the NFL among receivers. That's a ton of money for someone who has primarily spent his career as a slot receiver.

During Aldon Smith's latest arrest he blew a .40 BAC. That's a level 5 times the legal limit for driving and the point at which a person suffers serious alcohol poisoning, a coma or even death. This guy is going to end up killing himself the way he's headed.

Slot receiver is becoming much more an important role in NFL offenses. Just look at what Nelson Agohlor did in Philly last season when moved to the slot. The years prior it looked like we was done in the league. Aside from the handful of dominant #1’s, and ever stricter defensive rules, more teams are utilizing the slot to their advantage.
So it would surprise me to see this trend, and the resulting money, grow.

49ers linebacker Reuben Foster was formally charged today with 3 felonies and a misdemeanor from a February incident where he reportedly left his girlfriend bruised and with a ruptured ear drum. Foster was also arrested in January for marijuana possession. Foster had plenty of red flags entering the draft after failing his drug test at the combine due to a diluted sample and was kicked out of the combine following an altercation with a medical worker, but the 49ers still traded back into the first round to draft him last year.

Yet, Darnold... all I can think of him is turnovers.

With QB’s you draft them for what they can become and not what they are now. Darnold didn’t have very good coaching last season, and there wasn’t a whole lot of talent around him. Darnold has intangibles off the charts, high character, reads defenses well, throws with anticipation, and can make every throw on the field. There’s a reason almost all NFL teams have him as their QB1.
