Guice is probably the 2nd best RB in the draft, but there's a good amount of separation between him and Barkley. This same statement can be applied to QB's as well... there are other QB's that have similar skills or talent to the top 4.

Whether it's a one man star or a decent committee, you still need RB's to get it done. Barkley isn't just a power runner as he's talented in other aspects. Just because the playing style has 'transformed' doesn't mean every team needs to conform. Great defense and great run and go very far. Great running backs can make weaker QB's look like stars (Fournette, Zeke).

You may need to keep them on the bench longer to make sure they don’t die out there. But, definitely in hindsight, it was a huge mistake for them to pass on a Wentz and again Watson.
I absolutely agree that in hindsight, they missed out on these guys. I wonder too if some of these guys purposely look bad to NOT be drafted by Cleveland - sounds crazy, but makes you wonder.. but like I said, had Cleveland drafted Wentz a few years ago, fans would be upset because he'd be another bust. Cleveland does not take the time with the QB's, and he'd be no different than the others.

Everything I've seen and heard over the years is you rarely get good value for players and picks during the draft. So yes, we will see.

Your post reminds me of those really old games, I'm talking pre-1978 games.

A few years ago I used to watch a lot of those, and not just the NFL Network kind (Super Bowls, Greatest Games), but plain regular season games, and the game has changed so, so much.

For example, you're watching those old games, it's 1st down, and what do most teams do? Run the ball. Second down, run the ball, frequently handling the ball to the Fullback. Third down, if it's 3rd and less than 5 yards... run the ball. If it's 3rd & 5+ yards, a very simple pass, typically 10 yards or less in the air, and the WRs ran very simple routes, posts or slants.

Usually there wasn't much time for fancier stuff, because the DBs were allowed to manhandle the receivers from beginning to end. With the 1978 rule changes, they introduced the five yards limit and the passing game finally was a potent weapon. Before that, only guys like Fouts, Bradshaw, Staubach, Stabler, etc. could dominate the game.

And oh my goodness, the Kickers were absolutely awful. They routinely missed FGs if they were 30 yards or longer, and they missed extra points like crazy; they used that weird style of kicking the ball like they were pushing it with the foot.

The only thing I missed from that pre-1978 era, are the tackles. Clean tackles with their arms, usually grabbing the legs or feet. Today, defensive players want to be human spears and send the offensive players directly to their butts. I don't know if they are afraid of missing tackles with their arms or what, but the tackles are not as clean as they used to be.

I must say this, though, modern games are much more entertaining, even if the game is perceived now as softer.

Former Florida wide receiver Antonio Callaway tested positive for marijuana at the combine, per Adam Schefter. Callaway's agent said the positive test was for a diluted sample because Callaway was over-hydrated (Callaway's current agent wasn't his agent at the combine, as Callaway and his original agent parted ways after learning of the positive test). Regardless, it's just another red flag for Callaway who already was a risky pick who has had numerous issues and was suspended the entire 2017 season:

Quote:
This latest development fits into the aforementioned off-field history, which has included with a sexual assault allegation (of which he was eventually cleared), a misdemeanor marijuana citation, and involvement in a credit-card scam that saddled him with two third-degree felony charges (that could ultimately be dismissed upon completion of a pre-trial intervention) and a season-long suspension. Additionally, Callaway admitted in a combine interview to smoking marijuana about six weeks prior, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

He's a sure bet to get drafted by SF.

Or Cincinnati.

All this talk of food has made me curious what all of you are planning for your "Draft Feast"?

I am getting 2 orders of "Skillet Shrooms" as a side (large white button mushrooms mixed in with Italian meatballs, caramelized onions cooked in au jus, covered in Monterey Jack and mozzarella cheeses) from The Rock Wood Fired Grill, as well as an XL pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms and Italian sausage from Extreme Pizza down the street (The Rock has good pizza, but I prefer Extreme).
