Never let logic get in the way of lawsuit/grievance.
I wonder what would happen if I spent a short time at work protesting my political beliefs in front of: coworkers, management, owners, clients, etc...

Reid can focus on the positives: he might get to join his buddy Kaep and spend all day/every day bringing awareness.

Thought it was already official, but in any case congrats to him. One of the Cowboys even I always admired (and he did WORK for my fantasy team a couple of seasons).

In your opinion, what is a successful outcome here? Forcing a team to sign him? Financially compensating him for potential future earnings? Proving "collusion"? This last one is probably hardest to prove because Kaep is the higher profile guy in this case, Reid was pretty much an afterthought. Also Reid took a meeting with the Bengals and as someone else pointed out, the market for safeties is light and he is viewed as the third best unsigned S available.

Another huge QB deal is done:

Quote:
Chris Mortensen
‏Verified account @mortreport
Matt Ryan has agreed to a 5 year extension with @AtlantaFalcons that makes him first $30 mill per year QB w $100 mill guaranteed, per league and team sources.
I'm a little surprised he didn't go the Kirk Cousins route and just sign a fully-guaranteed three-year deal.

The outpouring of support for Witten has me tearing up at the end of my shift. He has been and will probably always be my favourite athlete of all-time. He exemplified so much that's right with sports and was rarely anything short of excellent. Thanks for the memories #82, I know you're going to be a fantastic commentator just like your long-time friend Tony Romo.

Kudos to Witten and Ryan.

Although I never have been THAT impressed by Ryan but I know the going rate is only increasing. Rodgers, lol..

You don't seem to be able offer anything at all. I was asking your opinion, trying to engage in a discussion because maybe you could shed some light on something I was curious about. I apologize for thinking we could have a civil discussion about a current event, football.

For the record, I am a Niners fan, have always liked Reid and wish the Niners retained him but fully understand why they, or any team don't want to take on any potential PR headache. As I have said in here before I am indifferent to the whole kneeling "controversy", I think the social issue he and Kaep were trying to bring attention to is important but complicated but is something that would have been best handled off the field after the initial attention it brought.
Also as a few people stated before, the market for a FA safety is light and he is considered the third best unsigned available at that position. He took a meeting with Cincy and we are barely two months into FA. When you consider those things, the recent draft, camp, preseason and injuries there is still a chance someone would signed him but this grievance probably will give teams even more pause. Kaep, as the face of this controversy, probably has more of a case for collusion than Reid, but even that is going to be tough to prove. I don't think Reid has a real shot of proving collusion this early in the FA process. Even then I don't know what the stated goal for "success" is - force a team to sign him, financial compensation for potential future earnings, or...???
I don't fully blame him or Kaep though as the league has done nothing to outline the policy for the anthem protocol. They could be in for more bad PR if they don't put something in place but at this point it seems that players who protested in the past may be over it.

Again, apologies for thinking you could offer up something, anything, as far as engaging, insightful conversation. It won't happen again.

Ryan is definitely one of the elite QBs in the league, but personally, I don't think he has that killer instinct to win a SB.

If his moron offensive coordinator had just run the ball 3 times from the Patriots 22 and taken the field goal then they would have been up 11 with a little over 3 minutes left and almost surely would have beaten the Patriots in Super Bowl LI.

Fair enough although I wonder if he even challenged Sark at all or even could have changed the play from his end.

Probably not a first ballot, but will definitely get in.
Especially if Revis and AP retire.

I think Witten will be first ballot and would get in over Revis if it came down to the two of them for one spot. Revis was a better player in his prime but Witten had longevity. You also can't overlook the fact that Witten is beloved by the media while Revis has a lot of detractors because he was never very media-friendly and a lot of people didn't like the way Revis handled his frequent contract disputes.

No doubt Witten was the much better character player of the three, but AP is a lock. So that leaves 4 more spots. Revis, while he had some questionable decionmaking during his career, does have a ring which might gives him the edge.
Another x-factor is if Gates retires this year too. Very similar numbers, but Gates did more in less games, so he might get the edge.
We will find out in 5 years.
