The NFL is saving that card for the next CBA negotiations.

I can smell the fighting about kick-offs and concussions from here.

I think the players are going to concentrate on more guaranteed money and weakening the commissioner’s power.

I imagine they will have about half the owners in their corner on that one. Didn't think I'd ever see the day about half the NFL owners would be against the man lining their pockets with trucks of cash.

I don't know if they'll focus that much on commissioner's power. Obviously the players hate how much power the commissioner has but it's something that affects very few players. There's obviously been some high profile cases the last couple years but it's still something that affects less than 1% of all players and the NFLPA might not think it's worth giving up a concession for something that doesn't matter to the vast majority of players.

Julio Jones does not plan to report to Falcons on schedule Thursday without an adjustment to his contract, which has three years remaining, per league sources. He is set to make $10.5 million in 2018. The team is aware of his mindset at this time.

Is an angry Julio good for the rest of the NFC or bad?

Either version of Julio can only be bad for every other team

I can understand players like Khalil Mack or Aaron Donald being unhappy since they've greatly outplayed their rookie contract which had virtually no room to negotiate, but not a player like Jones. When Jones signed his extension in 2015 it made him the highest-paid receiver in the league. He had to know that the market would quickly surpass that deal and within a few years he'd be underpaid, but he made the decision to sign for 6 years rather than a shorter deal.

Wonder if agents are behind most of these holdouts. Hyping up their clients by telling them they're more valuable than their contracts and that they need to get more money. Of course the ulterior motive is that the agent him/herself will be lining their own pockets with a percentage of any new money that the player gets. In Julio's case, maybe he's threatened by the presence of the new kid they've drafted, and wants to cash in as much as possible in case he ends up becoming a second fiddle before his current contract is up.

The life of an NFL player is so short, they need to maximize value. It would be foolish not to. As for playing, he'll be there when it counts. He doesn't need training camp as much as the rookies and the free agents.

He’s already getting paid nicely.

Being there at training camp is for the better of the team. Being a leader, chemistry, mentorship.

The conditioning to prevent injuries is what veteran holdouts tend to miss the most when they actually report.

On ESPN's NFL Live, @mortreport said J.J. Watt "crushed" his conditioning test Monday and is ready to play a full season.

Are the Rams just trying to piss off Aaron Donald? First giving Brandin Cooks a huge extension before he plays a game for the team, then giving Gurley an extension after 3 years, while the reigning Defensive Player of the Year still waits for a deal.
