Courts upheld the suspension because the CBA gives Goodell almost absolute power. It had nothing to do with the merits of the case.

Honest question: why? Isn't the whole parity thing supposed to keep teams on a relatively even keel so that we don't have a single team dominate the league the way NE has?

Seems like he’s gone steadily downhill after that. If it wasn’t for a borderline HoF QB, the remnants of Cowher’s team and one of the best talent evaluators in the league....oh yeah and the Rooney Rule...he would’ve been fired long ago.
Also playing in a two team division didn’t hurt either.
Obviously there’s no way to prove it, but it’s reasonable to assume any HC could’ve stepped into that situation and done quite well.

I'm not sure what the Rooney Rule has to do with it but yeah, spot-on for everything else. My friends used to brush me off when I'd tell them this stuff because they know I just generally don't like the Steelers, but it's nice to see others understanding just how meh Tomlin's been there.

The Rooney Rule has Pittsburgh permanently painted in a corner. How could they possibly hire a coach of non color after blasting numerous teams over the years for doing just that when they *ahem* met the Rooney Rule requirements.

Retaining Tomlin avoids that mess.

So much of being a good head coach is being able to manage and pull together the many different diversities and personalities in a locker room. It is seemingly a hot mess inside the Steelers building.

Some people on the right hate the Rooney rule because the they consider it affirmative action, which its not. It merely gives a minority candidate an interview, not a guaranteed job.
