So your answer is betting? Jerry Jones just bought a yacht with the money you give to support a mediocre product, and you're happy about that?

4 of Russell's titles came when the NBA had 8 total teams, 5 came when the NBA had 9 teams, 1 came with 12 teams, and 1 came with 14 teams. Russell is 1 of the greatest players in history but winning a title back then was nothing like winning titles now.

Didn't skip it, I just think not as many people are bothered by it as you may believe so it's a non issue.

Also, I believe there was no free agency in those days.

and when the NFL has 200 teams someday, bradys rings won't mean crap either. It was actually harder with less teams because the talent wasn't diluted.

No it wasn't. Aside from there being very few teams in those days players were more or less locked in with one team for life or until their team decided to trade them. Bill Russell won 11 titles because he had HOF teammates like Cousy, Sharman, Heinsohn, Havlicek, Sam Jones, etc. locked in for nearly all of his career, along with Red Auerbach as head coach.

Bill Russell wasn't even the best center of his era. Wilt Chamberlain was a much more impactful, talented big man. Difference is he didn't have the kind of talent Russell had around him except for a few seasons very late in his career with the Lakers. Not saying Russell wasn't great (he was), but he wasn't even a top 3 player of all time, probably not top 5.

I can't stand Brady, but his 6 titles in a time with a strict salary cap, free agency, 30'ish teams, in a sport where injuries are more common is far more impressive than Bill Russell's 11 titles in a league with barely any teams and a roster full of HOF'ers bound to the Celtics for nearly all his career. These 6 Patriots titles have literally been won with Brady literally the only constant aside from the head coach. Everyone on the roster outside of Brady turns over every few years and they manage to keep churning out titles.

Fair point. I tend to overlook kickers. I certainly didn't mean to downplay their impact. Between Between Gostkowski and Vinatieri the Patriots have had consistently outstanding kicking for the whole Brady era.

I don't see how they're forgotten. They only bailed Brady out what, 3 times for SB victories?

It's a team game. Everybody has to get the team down the field to set up the kicker, right?

A lot of people forget that. It gets lost in all the brady this & brady that. Even though I don't like them, BILL is the reason they thrive. Brady was out for a year & they still went 11-5 with an unproven QB. There are no GOATS in sports. The worst player on the worst team in sports could kick all of our butts at it. Who has the most this, or the least that is irrelevant in all but the most selfish eyes of athletes. Jim Brown never got a ring. Franco Harris got 4. Does that make Franco the better RB? No way. Both were elite. One just got lucky enough to play on a team that was hot at the time he played on it. Anyway, I'm rambling.
