They saved a bunch of money. They would've had to cut him if he wasn't traded.

If Denver would've kept Keenum, they would owe him $21 million.

If they cut him, they would be in the hole by $10 million.

By trading him and splitting the guaranteed money, they are off the hook by "only" giving up $4-$5 million total after bonuses and what not.

@viccarucci: An NFL source says #Bills have inquired about Antonio Brown with the #Steelers, but no deal is imminent. In fact, another league source termed it "unlikely."
