The scuttlebutt has been that Rivera is the de facto GM. With Rivera's influence in cleaning house and his input on not just personnel but apparently the name change, Snyder seems to have ceded more control than he ever has before.

Sorry, I’m out of the loop, but are other sports franchises such as the Braves, Indians, and Blackhawks, etc., going to change their names also?

Or is it just the term “Redskins”?

Is it time to change the name of the N.A.A.C.P. then, also?

Braves said they aren't changing their name but will look at ways to eliminate "the chop". Blackhawks said they aren't changing. Initially the Indians said they weren't changing but apparently that changed (according to Batman1980)

that statement basically says the same thing as their first tweet - considering, determine the best path forward with regard to our team name

Like any nation im sure there are some who feel its disrespectful. I am sure there are others like the vast majority who just dont care, and them im sure there are some who feel its an honor to be recognized.

every few years this issue comes up and they always release polls from native americans who, historically seem indifferent to the issue at whole. Not to say that there are those who are offended by the name but they have seemed to be the vocal minority and the press has always liked to run with the story, have always pretty much copied and pasted the same one every couple of years, like they do with most stories. This is the year of/for change though, whether you think its good or bad though.

There are people who choose to believe that the Holocaust is a hoax. As I don't want to get in trouble with the mods again, that's all I'll say about it.
