The pressure on free agency will be like the Wild West with the lowered cap this year. Even the Cowboys could possibly score some affordable top tier players!!

Take this with a grain of salt as I'm a NYJ fan, but I truly believe Sam is a much better QB than we've seen in the league since he's arrived. He's been saddled with an awful OL and borderline starters at the WR position. Couple those with an awful head coach/OC for a few years and the whole mono thing and that leads me to the conclusion that if he had a better OL and was surrounded by some play makers, he'd perform a helluva lot better than what we've seen so far.

I'm not a Jets fan but who is the GM of that team and how does he still have a job?

The GM is Joe Douglas and he's only recently come aboard. He's only just now starting to put his stamp on the team and assemble it the way he wants to. He's been saddled with a lot of old deals/players that he's systematically been dealing with. All that being said, we have been stockpiling picks and have a ton of money to spend in FA.

Hes in his 4th yr so will need a new bigger $$ deal soon.
Intead why not draft a qb & get him on the cheap rookie pay for 4 yrs.

Goes back to what i was talking about a few wks ago.

Hard to sign players and build a team when the main guy wants out.

The rest of the team is built to contend now and not necessarily to develop a rookie QB
I just don't know enough about Darnold and have seen a lot of chatter about him being linked to the Niners the past couple of weeks.
If the Niners can't land Watson I would rather them stick with Jimmy and get a solid backup, would love for them to bring Smith back.
Of course there have also been rumors that NE want Jimmy back, so depending on what they can get in return muddies things up even more

He's going to be on the Hawks for this upcoming season. No doubt in my mind. However i highly doubt he is a Seahawk in 2022.

The dead cap hit for this season would be enormous.

They're 70-1 to win SB - that's 27 of the 32 teams - might as well go rookie cause they ain't winning now anyways.

I could not care less about odds less than a month after the Super Bowl...before the draft....before free agency...before training camp....before the preseason...before a regular season snap
All that said, the roster core came a quarter away from winning a Super Bowl and last season was ruined by injuries to star players on both sides of the ball. If they can stay healthy, they'll be in the hunt again.

Figured they'd bring him back but that number is huge. Would like to see how much is actually guaranteed.

In the grand scheme of things 14m is actually very small compared to starting QBs not on rookie deals.

Per ESPN

Quote:
Quarterback Tom Brady has reached agreement with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a four-year contract extension that voids to a one-year extension, sources tell ESPN's Adam Schefter. The deal ties Brady to Tampa through the 2022 season, sources said.

The move saves the Buccaneers $19 million against the cap this year, sources said. The additional voidable years are there to defray the cost. It was another effort from Brady to keep as much of the team together as possible.

Anyone know what this means? Never seen an extension described like this before.

It means he signed a 1 year deal but it looks like a 4 year deal. I know they said something like that about Dak's contract too but it confused me also lol.
